Hard to go wrong with Robert Redford. While not in it, he narrates "A River Runs Through It", which is also one of my favorites.

Too hard to pick just one.  Some contenders:

Lawrence of Arabia
Young Frankenstein
The Life of Brian
The holy Grail (monte Python)
The Day the Earth Stood Still (original version)
Saving Private Ryan
Full Metal Jacket
Gladiator
Braveheart
Forest Gump

What is cool is that there are that many great movies out there.  Given another 15 minutes I am certain I could double my list, but other people in this thread also list some greats.

Big Lebowski (most Coen movies)
Pulp Fiction
Deadpool
Fight Club
Snatch
Star Wars even the shitty ones
Pretty much any Marvel cinematic universe

These and Saving Private Ryan came to mind, along with Black Hawk Down and several others.

However, my pick is Rush.

Fantastic movie, I could watch it a million times and not be bored. Great characters (and yes, I know my F1 history... truth is stranger than fiction), amazing cinematography, and the sounds... good Lord, the V12 goodness pumping through my speakers for 2 hours.

My ex hated Lady in the Water too. I thought it was mystical and a bit interesting.  Nothing not to like in it.

The Last of the Mohicans, and not just because I wanted to bang Madeline Stowe.

and

Platoon, most likely because I have watched it 50+times. I was remodeling a country cabin with no TV and all I had was a few VHS tapes with Platoon being the only one worth watching.

There are way, way too many good movies to pick just one favorite.  I don't even think I could narrow it down to top ten.

This one will always be high up the list, though.  There are just too many good lines.

"It's love, in point of fact."

"I aim to misbehave."

"Ah Hell... I'm a fan of all seven. But right now... I'm gonna have to go with wrath."
