Gunfights are like sex.
The first time will be over quick, and you won't be very good. If you get a second chance at it, you'll get better. I did my time, got a CAR in the corps, and am now a nurse. I'm still in shape, but a TNCC, ACLS and PALS certified RN shouldn't be kicking doors....... |

I joined the military. Hence I have no SHTF fantasies of playing Army Man hero in my neighborhood.

At me? Why would I want to shoot at me? Re-read your opening post and it will come to you. Do you mean that my situation is so hopeless that hari kari is my best recourse? |

Keep your head on a swivel and learn how to rake pretty patterns in dirt in front of the head shed.
Instant war hero. |

Start playing lots of battlefield and call of duty. You'll learn to find the best camping spots to snipe from.

Tell them you want to be an 11B. You'll get it.
They'll smack the silliness out of you in the first few hours. Don't let that hold you back. |

Will they take me at my age and not just stick me in a hospital work place. Also, wouldn't my silly disposition be always getting me extra, tedious duties? potatoes don't peel themselves |

Good point. OP needs to check to see if playing gung-ho Rambo in his neighborhood is allowed in the Home Owner's Association covenants. View Quote Firearm usage is forbidden by covenant, but likely, the situation of which I inquire would be well after the breakdown of community standards and restrictions. |

Raking fire seems good, but in front of the head shed? I'm not even allowed a tool shed without the plans being approved. Besides, who has time for head when there's a war going on? |

When my brother was in the 82nd Air Borne, he told me if I ever get drafted and get sent into combat, to:
Find the Master Sargent with the most combat experience, and do exactly what he does. Ignore orders to do anything other than what he is doing. That's all I have. |

Now about those smacks; that sounds like a short time for so many smacks. Couldn't they space them out some? I'd hate to get scabby cheeks. Who wants scabby cheeks that would only then bleed onto your gunstock? |

Hey, I never served, wish I could have, but circumstances conspired against me.
But, my grandfather served in WWII and Korea, 1st Cav Div. And my father served 4 tours in Vietnam, 82nd AB/101st AB scout/recon then ended his career as a Drill Sergeant. They made damn sure I was well versed in strategy, tactics, and combat. And I continue to learn on my own. Lessons learned: Never give up, keep fighting, you'll get all the rest you'll need when you're dead. RIP papaw and dad, thanks. |
