I went to a Civil War reenactment and saw lots of guys wearing Union and Confederate uniforms, and I'm pretty sure none of them actually served in the war.

View Quote Correct. I served 6 of the worst years of my life with the Village people. It was agonizing |

Whatever...never served nor would I claim I did but I have a couple pairs of desert camo trousers, one that is cut off into shorts. They are really comfortable and super tough. I like em. So I'm gonna wear em. I also have a black boonie hat that back in the day was on my head for about 100 hippy concerts...how that for ironic?

Cammies without insignia or patches? Who gives a shit?
Actual uniform items with unit patches, rank insignia, etc? Not cool. |

Is everyone in the USAF a poser since ABU is not worn in combat? Kinda goofy to wear camo that is never used. Taking time away from your coloring books and eating boogers to make funny comments? Pow! Right in the feels. BTW, I am quite good at typing with one hand. Boogers aint gonna pick themselves! |

I served, but have no probs with employed people wearing quality clothing while they are doing their jobs. I dislike this new "ZOMG VETERAN RAGE I AM OFFENDED BY EVERYTHING" crap. |

Op's question is dildo's!
Milsurp is good shit! I wear some because it is cheap and tough when I don't want my good clothes destroyed. I use it fishing, camping, working on things around the house......the list goes on! I am not playing army man and pretending to be operator as fuck! |

My son (7) has a nice collection of issued hats from various eras - present and way back. Most were given to him by forum members here and old guys at gun shows.
Is he a poser when he wears them fishing? |

Most likely it was purchased with personal funds. Even though those funds were supplied by the .gov, the taxpayer didn't buy it. |

I guess if this is what you have to worry about, you're doing pretty good.
Wear whatever you want, just don't pretend to be something you're not. |

What do you think of the old vets running surplus shops who sell cammo to civilians?

I went snowboarding in Gen 1 DCU Gore-Tex. I never served. I bought the stuff at Army Surplus because I needed cheap waterproof gear for Spring snowboarding.
Sorry I ruined your day. I may go coyote hunting in multicam this year, too. If it's ok with you, I'm going to clean the garage in an old pair of black combat boots gifted to me. Maybe I should make a post ranting about non-physicians wearing scrubs. It took me 12 years of post high-school education to practice independently as a doctor, but anyone can go to the store and buy my uniform. Your screen name insinuates that you're also a doctor. Are you, or are you just using the title because you're a fanboy? Posted Via AR15.Com Mobile |

After 9/11 I wore firefighter turnouts for 2 solid years, never been a firefighter, never wanted to be, never will be. I kid.

So if I'm wearing my kid brother's (MOS 0370) USMC Boonie hat, while sitting on with my wife's (MOS 62A) woobie, while allowing my kids to use my neighbor's (MOS 131X) MRE matches to ignite fireworks....what level of poserdom have I achieved?

How about if it is stuff I got while working in various third world shit holes as a security contractor guarding US military bases? Is it all right with you if I wear my multicam hat with IR flag patch then?
