I don't believe we armed the Iraqis with Stinger. I'm skeptical of this. I have no insight into this, it's just a wild ass guess. Did the US turn over any bases to the Iraqi military and just leave all the weapons in place? |

I'm not too sure, but from what I've heard MANPADS can only really hit airplanes on takeoff or landing. They aren't going to hit them 30,000 feet up, but i'm not a MANPAD expert. Well that's comforting. Don't take off, don't land. Got it! |

Having a stupid interventionist foreign policy always has unintended consequences. We are a nation of idiots. Why the hell did we give the Iraqis weapons like the Stingers? I wonder how many other weapons like the Abrams tanks did we give the bastards that will now fall into hands of people we don't want to have the weapons?
Maybe one of these days we will grow up as a nation but don't count on it. |

I guess these are the ones to go with the ones we gave them in Syria.

Why would we give Iraq stingers to fight insurgents? View Quote Exactly-Why the fuck did the Iraqi Army need Stingers in the first place? They don't have any need to shoot down airplanes. Something smells fishy..... Like: OMG The terrorists have our Stingers, we have to invade before they get used in Kansas! |

More likely, these are the Stingers and MANPADS that Obama and Hillary shipped to them in Syria from Benghazi. I've been waiting for them to show up. The administration is grasping the story that ISIS got them from the Iraqis in a desperate attempt to keep the truth suppressed. View Quote Sounds right. |

Stinger guy here (retired) unclassified range, you can get this info anywhere, is about 5ks so a passenger jet is pretty much safe, stingers are made for fast movers, NOT just for take off and landing

You cannot just pick up a stinger and fire it at an airplane and expect to hit it, certain steps must be followed to acquire a "lock". also there are 3 batteries with each missile
