If this is even close to the book, A lot of people will be disappointed.

In the trailer, he tells the dog to eat his food and don't just push it around. It was borderline like his Bad Boy / ID4 / MIB movies and to be honest, I wouldn't mind that in this movie.

Yep, it's got to be symbolism. If the world is undead, this last man on Earth emerges from his "womb" every day when he wakes. Plus it's a great composition for the big screen. |

A good buddy of mine, his daughter worked on this movie as a fixer of sorts. Set up shooting locations, hotels for the cast and crew, etc....
This is her second movie with Will Smith, and she reports he is genuinely a nice guy and is friendly with everyone on set, no matter the job. And he apparently has the coolest trailer in the world. She describes it as Transformer-like. FWIW, it's always nice to hear that at least one of these Hollywood types is OK. |

I can't wait for all the "I want my ten bucks back" threads.
What this movie will be: Independence Day pt. 2 Men In Black pt. 3 Bad Boys pt. 3 What it won't be: DOD '04 28 Days later Resident Evil Worst of all is what this movie could be: I, Robot Here's my favorite review:

I was trying to figure why they showed an SR71 on an aircraft carrier
why don't y'all read the book?
It's only 120 pages. Even the arfcom intelligentsia can handle that. |
if he says "oh hell nawh" I am walking out. |
I believe it's part of a museum. |
It's the Intrepid Museum on the Hudson River. |
I know some people that have met him and they corroborate - they say Will Smith is a good guy. BTW Glenn Beck is talking about this movie on his radio show right now. |
gotta love the fact that 3 out of 7 claim this movie sucks and 1 out of the remaining 4 has no idea what it is about the other 3 are like me and hold out hope |
I just hope it's as good as "The Last Man on Earth" with Vincent Price. Past that, it's gravy. |
Will Smith, not the book, is what will make this movie suck. He screwed up I, Robot perhaps one of the greatest Sci-Fi works ever penned. How much more so pulp-fiction like I Am Legend? |
Are there pictures? |
ah yes made the year I was born and one of the few movies to actually scare me "OM" was good but it didn't really scare me |
The reason why Will Smith is so nice is he is sizing up swing parters for him and his wife. I dont know they are for sure but I have heard that from atleast 3 different sources.
Maybe I am just too tired to care when I watch movies but I actually am looking for the Will Smith sterotype in a movie hero. I already live in a world full of zombies, why would I want to see a movie starring a dude like me? If you think that Will is a one track wonder, see The Pursuit of Happiness. Movies are not supposed to be any more real than that.
Hast thou beheld "Pursuit of Happyness" or "Ali"? and he didn't screenwrite "I Robot" I blame Vintar more than anyone for the shortcomings of that movie |
Nope. |
Personally, I like Will Smith. He does a good job and I look forward to this one.

i35.photobucket.com/albums/d157/Gatordonald/nimitz.jpg?t=1196779445 Let me tell you, that was probably the hairiest landing in my life. It wouldn't have been that bad, except the approach path is all cluttered up with buildings. I had them bundle all the wires into one giant cable. It was all or nothing. I swooped over the fantail at ref-20, and snagged it with my giant custom fabricated tailhook. Whew, what a rush. fwiw- He is enjoying a chocolate chip cookie. |

You have an excellent point. Both of the movies you reference are great Drama. He also did great with Hitch, a Comedy. However, Will Smith cannot do Action. He has repeatedly shown he plays one character over & over & over: Hip urbanite well versed in the latest trends of the month. This is why his Dramas (Legend of Bagger Vance) age well and his Action movies (Wild, Wild West) don't. |

Do the vampires have guns? Maybe he's in the tub to protect himself from gunfire at night. Cast iron > bullets.
yep Not to mention, the Cold War was really cranking right about the time the book was written. I figured getting in the tub was advice in case of nuclear attack (much like children duck and cover under their desk, stc..) |
They took the A-3 off the deck to put the fucking SR-71 on it. Complete asshattedness, removing a true carrier aircraft from a carrier to put an Air Force jet on it. |
I liked seven degees of separation. I don't know why people critisize will for not "being versitile" enough but sing the praises of chuck norris, arnold s. bruce willis, ect. I can't wait to see it! I like the part where he is farming and deer are running around the city. I'm not a people person so it looks like a fairy tale to me. |
How about "1 out of 6 billion" |
It's NOT an Air Force SR-71!!! It's NOT an Air Force SR-71!!! It's NOT an Air Force SR-71!!! It's a CIA A-12!!! That's just as bad as calling a magazine a clip! There is a DIFFERENCE! See: Air Force SR-71 on the left. The SR-71 has a crew of two (note extra window behind cockpit. The SR-71 has wider and more distinctive chines extending from the nose along the sides of the fuselage. The SR-71 also has a longer and more robust "tail" than the A-12. The CIA A-12 has a crew of only one and has the smaller chines and tail. (Tails not visible in this pic.) The USS Intrepid has an A-12, not an SR-71 on its deck. Will Smith is teeing-off from an A-12! Got it! Good! |

Mt. Airy is about less than a 30 minute drive from my location. |

Been a while since i read the book, and I haven't checked out the movie too closely, but how about this for symbolism:
He is to the vampires what they are to him. He is the creature that kills them in their sleep, as they would gladly do to him. In the classic vampire myth, the creature always returns to his "coffin" to sleep the day away in security. Is the tub actually his symbolic coffin? What do you think? |
FWIW, those of you worried about Will Smith's role as being either "independence day/I'Robot-type" or "Ali" type, here is what is on Wiki:
check out the brain on FatMan! |
Fixed. |
cool backs up my belief that WS has some depth |
It's gonna rock!
I think this could be the "breakout" role for Will Smith, the way Collateral was for Jamie Foxx. |
ahahahahaha nice Will is better than 3/4 of the 'actors' in hollyweird. Its a movie take it for what it is. |
+1 |
I think that thought is too deep for GD. |
yes much better suited for the Tx HTF |
I don't know if I will see this movie. If it has zombies, then I probably won't.
I can't get past the whole living in NYC thing; without a supply of clean water, no one can stay there. |
There's a Texas HTF???? |
