Geez, three posts back to back...sorry...

I just wanted to say thank you to everyone who wishes to help out one of our country's veterans.  It means a lot to me and the thousands of other veteran advocates who go out of their way to ensure no one is left behind.

+1.

I'm in the DFW area LawDog. IM me if I can be of assistance.

I thought I did some nice things on Xmas eve  and Xmas day but you topped me.

I did get those  two toddlers to stop crying cause their daddy kept telling them when we came through the door it would be to kill him.   Of course that would be "your momma's fault."

TxLawDog

Thanks for the kindness you showed a fellow Vet, anything I can do to help out just let me know.

I have a few bucks to pitch in for him and I will send you a money order if I have an adress and a name, all information will be kept between you and I.

Also what size shirt, shoes and trousers? I have a closet full of nice clothes that I never wear and will ship them clean and ready to wear on my dime.

I have several small flashlights, many pairs of mismatched socks that are like new (damn washer dryer only eats one of the pair), clothes (size?),

Once we know his needs I would be glad to do what I could

****This is my final update until something further changes here.

Perhaps some acts of kindness are meant to be random on purpose.  I have returned to the Vets "home over the last several days with no luck in contacting him.  My business card with the attached change is still there.  This is not an area typically frequented by transients and is off of the beaten path.  I would never have found this guy to begin with if it handed been a dispatched call.  I don't know if he has moved on or relocated but I cannot find him.  I did speak to the campground manager that originally called in on the guy since the manager lives there and he said that he hadn't seen the Vet since the first day that he called in.  The manager said that when he had spoken to the Vet in the past, mostly to tell him to stay out of the trash cans, the Vet was freindly and sober but that the Vet would ramble some which gave the manager a feeling that the Vet had some type of mental problem.  I didn't see that at all when I was with him, but who knows.  I want to thank everyone who has sent IM's and responded in this thread with ideas and offers of donations.  I will continue to keep my eyes and ears open on this Vets situation and if I relocate him I will repost the information.

I bet you're right Striker.  Sometimes just being noticed by an LEO, even if it's by a great guy like TxLawDog, will spook a loner.  I guess it depends upon the "why" he's a loner and we may never know that answer.

Thanks anyway TxLawDog.  You've got some true heart there guy.

I wonder if the fact he had contact with the police made him move along?
Is his hooch gone?

His tarp was still there but nothing else.  That is why I had thought that he might be staying around.  Who knows?????

Well, I think you did what you could and for that you should be proud, you cant help those who are not ready for your help. With luck this man will find what ever it is he is looking for, it is good to know that (even if he doesnot know) there are people that would like to make his life better and as long as that attitude continues I will hold out some faith in humanity.

I don't know how religious you are, but some would say that you were tested. You did right, and I think if I get a call like that I probably would do the same as you. That's why you're in the job you are, and those little things are what make the negative BS that happens a little less important.

Since there was such hope that e could help this vet, maybe a donation to a vet group that handles homeless cases would work.

I think this Vet has once again served his country and moved on...
