What a great utility that site is. I checked all my passwords, especially my banking and Paypal. Later on, I'm going to list them all here too, because I'd also like to get everyones opinion on how secure they are. Thanks. |
getthefuckoutyoukenyanmongrel seems pretty secure!
About 13 septillion years |
One password I use for some things, about 2 weeks. My password for World of Warcraft is 28 million years. Good to know my epic flying mount is safe...
About 46 days for here.
I tried something close to my banking password, the same style of numbers, caps and letters at least not the real password, and got "About 89 quintillion years." I'm good with that. |

crap "It's like some idiot would use for his luggage..." "Remind me to change my luggage." |

128 days for mine.........I guess "F U Arock" is not the most secure password to have, but I get a kick typing it out every time I log on......!!!!
Mine was entirely randomly computer generated. So it is essentially a crappy but very strong password.
One password was 46 days, the other says About an "octillion years". Passphrase FTW!

OK, so tell me a nonhacker with no talent for computers about cracking a password. Not the technical details obviously but general nonspecific stuff. Can a guy go out and google up a program that will automatically test passwords on a specific username on a website like arfcom? Wouldn't the site detect the activity and close the account after x number of failed login attempts? Just curious about the theoretical, but again not looking for an instruction manual or to educate those who would be nefarious with the specifics. |
It turns out that if your password is "This is my password bitches!" it would take a PC about 73 decillion years to decipher it.
Shithead6969 would take 408 thousand years! No this is not a password I use.

Most websites aren't built to detect that type of activity. Yes, there are programs out there that will do this for you. Hydra and Brutus come to mind. They are slow and painful though. |

It would take About 527 sextillion years for a desktop PC to crack your password |

I typed in a shit load of pass words jut to check it out. Some close to mine though I use different passwords for different things. I put in some stupid ones: ABC123 and FuckMe are both among the top 500'used passwords lol. Even random numbers didn't do well. Best was case sensitive words with numbers. The shorter the word the easier the longer the better.

Using the whole alphabet (a through z) as a password comes up as 780 quintillion years.
Hmmm. Maybe I should start using that. ETA: alphabet, plus 1234567890 at the end brings it up to 374 undecillion years. I have no idea what an undecillion is, but it sounds cool. ETA2: Just learned that an undecillion is a 1 followed by 36 zeros. Cool. |

Simple progression of chars is easy to break. Also this obviously does not take into account dictionary attacks. |

my password is FUAROCK. I don't think it would take a rocket surgeon too terribly long to figure it out.
About 717 quattuorvigintillion years
You think in that much time, they would update with a faster PC and cut off several million millenia... |
1 light year but in hyperspace it would be much shorter.
Actually it said 6 hours |
408 thousand years. I used an old paswword. The new password is even stronger but I'm not putting it in there. Nice try
713 Years.
For the record; no I did not type in my actual password, but a random word and charaters sharing those I use. Duh. |
Yeah, going to some mystery website and typing in your password is a really good idea....
I tried my work PW which is a phrase, and 7 numbers.
It would take about 289 decillion years. |
