I was a recruiters wet dream.

Walked in when I was 17 and said " I want to join the Marines"

Got a parental sig.

Mom didn't want to sign, (my parents were divorced).

I told he I knew Dad would, since he was a jarhead during Korea!

She signed.

Had my 18th B-day in Parris Island.

I was 16 when I joined the Navy.  Quit school and lied about my age.  Wasn't too hard to do back in the 50's.  Nobody had birth certificates like they do now days. Liked it so much I stuck around for 25+ years.

Yep, 16. Did all the paperwork, had parents sign, swore in on my 17th birthday and went on DEP. Finished my senior year of high school, graduated, went to basic, turned 18 in Boot Camp.
