I know that one day I'm going to take the big dirt nap.  Shits on until then though, which is nice.

Any optimism I have will be gone.

Pretty much agree. We(govt) dug a hole so deep that's nearly impossible to climb out from.

Zeros answer?  Lets make a new dept to investigate this.

I now work in the firearms industry... So long-term no, nearer term yes. They will stop at nothing to put the industry out of business, but every time they do it causes a boom in the market. Some day they will succeed, but not before the shelves are bare.

No real worries for myself/wife but I suspect the Grandkid is going to live in a much different country than I grew-up in. It won't be a better life either.

I figure as I'm on the downhill slide with far fewer years in front of me than behind I'll just muddle on and do pretty much as I please.

Unfortunately NO.
The U.S. and the world is unraveling.
I had this discussion last night and the consensus was unanimous that we are headed for bad times.
And this wasnt a discussion amoung a group of necessarily "like minded" individuals. We are all from differing social and economic backgrounds.
Sometimes I think it's just me being a glass half empty type and spending too much time on Arfcom and watching the News. Last night was eye opening hearing all these folks voicing a consensus that bad things are coming.

A lot of it appears to be based on the morality and lack of values in society now that is so prevalent.

Definitely.

When you take long view and the big picture, things always get better.

That's about where I'm at.

I have to feel optimistic.  When you're at the bottom there's no other way to go except up.  And for damn sure we have got to be at or near the bottom of the fall of America.

Damn.

Was hoping for a few more optimists to check in.

For my personal future? Totally.

For the world? Not so much.
