this bailout is an even bigger joke than the financial market one
the hole in the bottom of the bucket hasn't been fixed so it's just going to flow right out

it's going to get to the point where the middle class says fuck it and all go on welfare

Vote for the lessor evil, this election is too close to 'throw your vote away' on a third party, etc etc.

People around here (meaning arfcom) don't have the balls to vote 3rd party, so why does everyone think they're going to lock and load?

The government has not served the people since just prior to the onset of the Civil War. It was just in a slow spiral downward until everyone got the privilege of voting.

Voting is ineffective and IMO, useless. Contacting your "representatives" is essentially the same. This country has been far too long without a correction. Hopefully, if one happens, it will fucking eradicate every one of the socialist and leftist fucksticks, as well as the legislation they have forced upon the masses.

A very small percentage of the population actively supported the Revolutionary War..............................................

Ya know... The jackass is right.

It isn't OUR money.

The dollar is a promisary note. An IOU.

We Pay our debts with IOU notes.

Together we run up a national deficit measured in IOU notes.

Has anybody ever collected exactly what it is the note is against?

So, we all are running around with IOU's and don't want to give a bunch of IOU's to the big three who have run into owing more IOU's  than they take in.

Nope.... whoever all those IOU's belong to it ain't us, it's "Them".

I can't be us, we have a national debt and are completely out of Money.

Maybe Obama has some money?

Arrogant assholes!

You sure about that? I know it is from last year, but I doubt it changed much percent wise.

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/17424874/

So just who are these lenders? As of last June (the latest complete breakdown available), the biggest holder of Treasury debt was the U.S. government itself, with about 52 percent of the total $8.5 trillion in paper that's out there. Most of the government’s holdings are massive savings accounts for programs like Social Security and Medicare. Just as you may prefer to keep your Individual Retirement Account in the safe Treasury bonds, the folks who manage the Social Security Trust Fund are looking for a secure investment, too.
Story continues below ↓advertisement | your ad here

That’s leaves a little over $4 trillion in public hands. The biggest chunk (about 25 percent of the $8.5 trillion total) is held by foreign governments. Japan tops the list (with $644 billion), followed by China ($350 billion), United Kingdom ($239 billion) and oil exporting countries ($100 billion).

Damn it,  I'm running for President in 2012.  Who'll support me?

My platform is simple:   The government is far, FAR too big, too bloated, and has amassed too much power.   I propose to cut it off virtually at the knees,   eliminate NINETY PERCENT of all government offices and jobs EXCEPT not touch the Armed Services,   COMPLETELY
eliminate several useless regulatory agencies like the BATFE,  leaving the FBI to handle
enforcement of only the laws AS THEY ARE WRITTEN,  and in general do everything in my
power to take power AWAY from the government that has STOLEN it from you and GIVE THAT
POWER BACK TO YOU.

This will be a government that's like the ideal penis:  Small enough to be ignored when you
don't need it,  big enough to be useful and effective when the time comes to put it to work.

My primary means of getting what I want:  Simple.  If I don't get what I want,  EVERYTHING
that Congress does gets VETOED.   Even the most essential legislation and maintenance
bills will get vetoed if I don't get what I want.       And I'll be quite happy to make
campaign trips to individual states and rile up the population in order to get them to
recall the senators and representatives (and governors) that are doing a bad job.

I'd be the only President in history to have a formal, published good guy/bad guy list,
and if you get on the bad guy list,  I'll be exerting a great deal of influence to get your
ass booted out of office by your state's citizens.

Organizations that have as their stated purpose the intent to change the Constitution or
Bill of Rights, such as VPC, the Brady Campaign, MoveOn.org,  and others, would be
declared to be subversive organizations and the leadership imprisoned for treason,
with a chance of executions if they're unrepentant.     Changes to the Constitution and
Bill of Rights are the sole province of Congress,  and, in the case of a Constitutional
Convention,  the people of the states.

The UN is kicked out flat on its ass and their headquarters building is seized and turned
into something actually USEFUL for a change.   Like free housing for the homeless.

Special order to all U.S. military personnel:  The lowliest new recruit shall consider himself
to outrank even the highest General Officer IF that General is wearing any uniform item or
insignia of the United Nations,  or is working for the United Nations.   No US serviceman
shall under any circumstances treat any order or directive from any individual or
representative of the UN as a valid order or directive.  It is to be ignored.

The CMP is hereby ordered to begin procuring fully automatic weapons from military
arsenals and prepare them for sale to qualified civilians via the CMP's usual channels,
and these weapons are to be kept in fully automatic and fully functional condition.  Their
registry in the NFA is ordered by executive order in addition to an executive order
giving all citizens the right to register any firearm of their choosing as any class of NFA
item (including several classes) for the duration of an open-ended amnesty registration
period,  which is to begin immediately and is to end only upon issuance of an executive
order ending it.  (Which I will never order.)

The surplus systems used by the government, including the DRMO/DRMS systems,  are
hereby ordered to eliminate all demil codes from their lists that compel usable vehicles
and weaponry to be destroyed before offering them for sale to the public.   While the
government shall retain the right to track the items in question after sale,  it will not
be allowed for them to be destroyed prior to sale.

I could go on...

The only way our government is going to be reformed is the same way that the USSR did.  Bankruptcy.

I'm not going to cheat in any way, but I AM going to use every deduction I possibly can.  For example, I'm going to max out my IRA contribution until it hurts.  I'll give to charity and buy another house for the mortgage deduction.

Mencken wrote as follows about the difficulties of good men reaching national office when such campaigns must necessarily be conducted remotely:

"The larger the mob, the harder the test. In small areas, before small electorates, a first-rate man occasionally fights his way through, carrying even the mob with him by force of his personality. But when the field is nationwide, and the fight must be waged chiefly at second and third hand, and the force of personality cannot so readily make itself felt, then all the odds are on the man who is, intrinsically, the most devious and mediocre — the man who can most easily adeptly disperse the notion that his mind is a virtual vacuum.
"The Presidency tends, year by year, to go to such men. As democracy is perfected, the office represents, more and more closely, the inner soul of the people. We move toward a lofty ideal. On some great and glorious day the plain folks of the land will reach their heart's desire at last, and the White House will be adorned by a downright moron." (Baltimore Evening Sun, July 26, 1920)
