A good .22 in either handgun or rifle form is hard to beat for pure cheap fun shooting!  As long as it's reasonably accurate and you have lots of "interactive" targets to blast!

Lever guns are always a hoot too, as are big magnum rifles like the .458, etc.

SkS's are ok, but an AK is much more comforable to shoot as long as you don't mind a gun that "patterns" rather than groups!

A single action revolver in just about any caliber is also a sure bet.  Lots of playing with it to load and reload, and so satisfying to shoot well!

I also have a Beretta model 21a bearcat that is a hoot as long as your ranges are kept real short and you have good light to see the sights!

I know, I know... how dare someone say that shit on AR15.com lol...

I've been thinking about shooting some iron sights lately and getting maybe an old .30 carbine or something... What are some cool rifles that are pretty affordable and easy to get ammo for? Anything from oldschool military to new/modern.  Anything except for .22 LR...  Need recommendations.

I kinda feel like if I get into another rifle, I'll spend less money because it won't need a ton of ammo and enticing rails and gadgets to bolt on..... probably not even need optics

Stop lying to yourself. You will spend more money, you will buy tons of ammo, and you will accessorize it. There is nothing wrong with it just don't lie to yourself about it.

Yep.  I bought a WASR 10 this weekend just to have an AK that makes noise and would be fun to plink with, but I'm already looking up ways to modify it a bit...............

Ak, SKS (really fun to shoot, despite the general disrespect you get from EBR owners)

And probably the most underrated fun rifle is a good bolt-action .308.

Any good places to find M1 carbines or Garands? I heard you had to join a club or pay some fees or something to get a Garand, unless you can buy it second-hand.

Lotta great suggestions...

All military rifles are fun.

If you don't own at least one M1 Garand you are not a proper American.
