Exclusive: CBS Considering Airing Gay Dating Site
Ad During Super Bowl

By Hollie McKay

FOXNews.com

LOS ANGELES

The
network says it is reviewing an ad from ManCrunch.com, a dating site
specifically for gay men

ManCrunch.com

A screen grab from ManCrunch.com's home page
shows the site's slogan, "Where many, many, many men come out to play."

After days of deliberations on whether to run a controversial
Super Bowl ad from gay dating site ManCrunch.com, CBS has not yet
reached a decision.

The 30-second spot shows two men excitedly watching the game, before
their hands brush as they both reach into a bowl of chips. Suddenly, the
two begin making out, much to the shock of a guy sitting close by.

According to a rep for the dating site, which operates under the
slogan “Where Many Many Many Men Come Out to Play,” the ad was submitted
on Monday, January 18th. When the site followed up on the status of the
ad on Friday, January 22nd, they were told by CBS that “the spot hadn’t
been officially approved yet" by network standards, and that "all the
Super Bowl spots were sold out.”

“ManCrunch requested the spot get reviewed anyway just in case
another advertiser drops out and a spot becomes available, as often
happens, and CBS agreed,” added the site’s rep.

ManCrunch officials said they believe CBS has no intention of airing a
commercial for their gay dating service, "but do not want to officially
‘reject’ the spot out of fear there may be a backlash from gay advocacy
groups.”

However, a representative from the network told Pop Tarts that
advertising spots were still open, and was unsure where that comment
originated.

“The ad is still under review, the process takes a little while,” a
rep from CBS said. “We still have a lot of ads we have yet to review.”

ManCrunch’s submission is not the only controversial ad CBS has had
to review this year. On Wednesday, the network announced that they had
approved a pro-life commercial starring Florida quarterback Tim Tebow,
funded by the conservative Christian group Focus on the Family, to air
during the game.

“CBS’s recent decision to air an anti-choice advertisement during
Super Bowl XLIV was outrageous,” a rep from advocacy group The Women’s
Media Center said. “Even worse is the network’s about face from its own
policy of rejecting controversial Super Bowl ads.

"The Women’s Media Center and organizations dedicated to reproductive
rights, tolerance, and social justice, are urging the network to
immediately cancel this ad.”

CBS is reportedly standing by their decision, and producers said they
would consider accepting any other "responsibly produced" advocacy ads
for broadcast.

I don't see a problem with this.

I often have trouble finding new male friends when I move to a new town. This seems like such a friendly idea

Making you aware that it exists is shoving it down your throat?

You have to make the effort to go to the site, sign up, find a date, then he will shove it down your throat.

I had no idea that was an actual word.

The name is a combination of Crimson Edge, my old online alias. It was shortened because I don't like being called CE.

No problem so long as they also run the anti-abortion ad that people are complaining about.

CBS has taken their money and should run the add.

I haven't really been paying attention, but isn't there outrage over a commercial that has one of the players Mom talking about how she almost aborted him and is glad she didn't?

I guess it's OK to promote being gay...

There was a lady on O'reilly last night bitching about the Tim Tebow pro-life ad.  Who cares?  If you don't like this or that, change the channel. Cough up $2mil and buy your own ad.  Freedom of speech includes even stuff you don't like.  Imagine how pissed you would be if they wouldn't air an ARFcom ad or something of that sort.

CBS will either air both or neither. They are in damage mode now.

The superbowl is watched by "families" and as such I don't approve of a man and woman in sexually explicit commercials. I certainly don't approve of homosexuals and an ad that promotes nothing more than homosexual debauchery.

I hope there is an Ashley Madison advertisement during the superbowl.

Then someone who has never heard of it before can start yet another outrage thread.

The gays need a dating site like this.  I'm glad that they are advertising.  You don't know how hard it is for gay guys to meet other gay guys.  Go to your local gay bathhouse for instance.  Mostly married guys in there just looking to suck off another married guy on their lunch hour.  Not a good place for gays to meet.

There is this thing called the internet where you can go look that shit up if you want to on your own time.  We all got here without any advertising during the superbowl.

This is called targeted marketing.

A substantial percentage of football fans are of the gay.

Same reason hockey games have ads for mullet-care products.

Big deal.  You pay the money, you get your 30 seconds.  Advertise whatever you want.

I think their money would be better spent advertising during American Idol, but that's not my decision.

I can honestly say that this doesn't bother me.

Then again, I think that the people butt-hurt over the pro life commercial are being retarded about it.

It is a commercial.  Funded by a private entity and aired by a private entity.  I could have sworn that we had some kind of right to do that....

I just wonder if next year some organization raises money and decides to have an advertisement stating homosexuality is evil, etc.

Will those ads be aired?

Is there really free speech, freedom to associate anymore?  I'm doubtful.

Who cares?

Does it affect you ?

Does it cause you  harm?

is it capitalistic?

People just like to find reasons to get pissy about things that dont affect them.
