Another one who doesn't like the 1911.

It's a beautiful weapon, a tried-and-true system, but I don't like how they handle.  (IMHO, good engineering is attractive as well as functional.)

I prefer Glocks, with the "weird" grip angle and everything.

Would I be more at home with a polymer-framed 1911?

This is exactly how I feel to the letter.  I hate the trigger most of all.  I own a Glock 19 but it's my "throwaway" gun.  I don't really care what happens to it.  I'll never buy another Glock.  I'm not saying Glocks aren't great guns, just not for me.

Glock 29 in 10mm..

I LOVED shooting 10mm but this particular gun had some issues with Failure to Eject (even after I sent it back to Glock) I also liked it because it was the same size as my G30 so I could swap them in and out of the same holster..

If I hadn't been so busy recently I probably would have pressed for a better repair but I sold it off to help fund mods to a car

Couldn't hit shit with mine.  A point-blank defense weapon only IMHO.

I can keep an entire mag on the torso of a B-27 target at 100 yards with a G29.

Once had a Chinese M14 and prefer the feel of the platform.   My bolt was soft though and after replacing it with USGI it got traded off.    I think the FAL will become an M1A in the next year or so.

AR15. Even though i kept changing it around, ended up selling it, the balance wasnt there. I Do like the AK platform, and the garand is one of the most balanced firearms ive ever handled.

I fired a Beretta Storm, it was a total POS.  I wanted to like it but, it was so crappy and sloppy.  I had toy guns when I was 10 that where better made then that poor excuse for a weapon.

Walther  P99QA .40
German made,  wife bought it for me for a Yule present. (was my GF at the time)
could not shoot the thing no matter how much i tried.
ended up trading it to a jeweler for our wedding rings.

S&W 686. Would never shoot worth a darn and spit lead everywhere. [poor timing] Grips were to big and clunky also.
Mini 14. Minute of barn on a good day.
Glock-just can't get used to the trigger or the grip angle.

Sig 229.  I have one, it shoots "ok".  It just never really impressed me.  I don't particularly care for its double action trigger pull (my Beretta's have much smoother pulls), plus one of the legs that the decocker spring sits in broke.  I guess I just don't understand all of the SIG handgun hoopla.

A Springfield P9 chambered in .40.

It made me a blood donor with each magazine fired (I could only shoot about one mag through it).  The hammer bite was BRUTAL.

All that gun needed was a beavertail frame.  The Tanfoglios had them, but not the Springfield version.

I have. I just sold it, the H&K USP .40.

Nothing wrong with the gun, but it just didn't feel like it needed to be in my hands. I wasn't really sold on it when handling it, but it certainly wasn't crap. I ran across a deal on a new one and just could not stop myself. I bought it, took it home and loved on it for a few days, trying to get it to grow on me, but no matter what, I just couldn't do it, even after shooting about five hundred rounds through it.

So, off it went. Never have I wanted to like a gun so badly as that H&K, and just couldn't come to terms with the gun itself.

Funny you mention this.

Had a USPc 9mm...wanted to like it, but couldn't. Exact same process as you. Nice pistol, just not for me.

HK SL8-1

It was an impulse buy, and got a decent price on it.

It shoots great, is very acurate, but the 10 round mag, thumbhole stock, and just all around goofy look of it turn me off.

I have been thinking about spending the cash to do a G36 clone, but I dont like the idea of having to hack up the gun to do it.

Glock.  Can't stand they way they feel, the shitty trigger or that dumb little bar in the middle of it...and they are just plain ugly.

My Mosin 91/38.  I like the round and the big ball of fire, but not the minute-of-barn-door accuracy.  It is strictly a close range possum gun.

1911 any make and model.

I own one, but too many trips to the gunsmith and FTF problems made me think twice about the "so called greatest handgun ever"

I might buy another 1911 to see what the hype is all about.

HK USP and SIG 220s are better

I really tried to like Glocks. I had a 19, 2-21's, a 30, a 17, and one other that I can't remember right now. They all pointed unnaturally high for me, I had to bend my wrist unnaturally just to hit the target. Now I have 1911's, and XD's, and everything is good again. I tried so hard to be trendy...(sob)...

Springfield M1911 stainless.
1.  Shot way left.  Nobody, and I mean nobidy could shoot it at point of aim.  In the end, the rear sights were practically at the edge of the slide.
2.  Jammed on nearly every round, even with McCormick mags (among others).

Sold it.
Maybe next time.

I had an FEG PJK-9HP (Hungarian Hi-Power Clone). It was the prettiest HP I had ever seen with the deepest bluing job. i got it for about $250 and I really wanted to like it. I had been searching for an HP to replace one I had sold a long time ago and this seemed to be it.

The problem was that I just couldn't shoot the thing at all. It had those tiny little sights like on the WWII 1911's and I just couldn't use them. I thought maybe the pistol was just messed up but I let somebody else shoot it and he had no problem getting reasonable accuracy out of it.

So I sold it and bought a FN HP which I can shoot just fine.

Sig P220.

It was cool that it was a West German gun, but it had the absolute worst, crunchenticker, long, heavy DA trigger I've ever seen on a pistol.

It was very accurate if shooting SA, but it had to go.

An Uzi, always wanted one, always thought/think they looked badass. When I finally picked one up I couldn't  believe what a chunky heavy piece of shit it was. The metal stock and sights sucked too.

+1 on the Garand.  I definitely prefer the balance of the shorter AR's (M4geries and the like) to a full-length AR, even though either way, the AR is very light.  AK's and SKS's feel very nice to me as well provided they are using original-length wood stocks.  Plastic screws up the weight/balance and the longer "US/NATO" stocks are too long for me.

My Garand. Wanted one for months, sold a buncha my guns to buy one, drove 8 hours out and ten back from CMP North, got a beautiful 6/42 SA with MW of "0".

And.... nada. I mean, the first couple times out were neat, and the history in that rifle- God!! But after that it sat in the closet more and more while the bolt guns went out. I liked it, but I never loved it like I thought I would.

She's in N.Y. state now, with a very nice gentleman who loves shooting her. And as for me- I got my first AR in trade and started hanging out here. Now I have 2, and I LOVE them!!
