I work for the .gov and get nothing each year...

the wife works for a private hospital and they give them a sweatshirt with a logo each year.

I try to give my employee a weeks pay but sometimes its half a week depending on how the year went.

I would love a Christmas bonus once.

No. I work for the Federal Gov't., it would be very non-PC to give Christmas bonuses. Ol' "W" may let us go home early tomorrow, but most everyone else is already on leave. I usually am already on leave by this time, but this year I didn't take off the week before Christmas like I usually do.

I got a free lunch where the owner of the contracting company announced that he had recently sold the company and after Jan 1 we'll all be working for someone else. He then passed out packs of sticky notes with the old company logo on them.

I'm thankful to have a job and had no realistic expectation of a bonus, but geez, lunch and a pack of sticky notes...

My Holiday Spam

Really though my company gives us all(ish) a christmas bonus.

I work for a great company and they treat us like humans....not the walking dead.

my company gives bonuses up to and above 12% depending on company earnings. Last year we got zilch, and everyone was pissed. Even with Katrina this year I think they will give at least 2.5%.

eta: that's percent of salary, not company earnings. for my salary that can mean as much as a $7000 bonus before taxes. But more likely I'll be gettin like $500.

oh wait I got a lot this year

1k more on home taxes
12% hike in health care
1% salary deduction for "after retirement health care" wtf?
5$ incrrease in co-pays
dropping to 50% coverage for MRI's and CAT scans (was 100%)
increase in the amount taken out of salary for "pension"

so my actual take home will be less than last year even after my "raise"

I work for what has become a pretty large corp that is spead across the entire country.  We are still somewhat surprised the .corp gives a bonus.  $225 before & $142 after taxes.  That works out to just about $1M corp wide in bonus money for non-executive employees.

After taxes $142 ain't much but I am appreciative.

The working guys get a token amount of $150.00.  Some guys never come in and get the $150.00.

The department heads get the $150.00 plus $5,000,00.

I love being a working guy and my $150.00.

Working for the federal government is it's own reward.    COL and step increase comes just after christmas.

Well we normally get something.  Been here 6 years and the least I think was $500 bucks.
It is typically a 'pay check' which for me works out to near $2k.  w00t!

No company bonus for Christmas as long as I have been there. However, for the past 7 years my boss has sent out $100 gift cards to everyone, but not this year

I don't really care about bonuses, I am glad that I have a job, especially since some of our competitors are laying off and cutting back.

I am really blessed to work for the company that I work for.

We had a great year, worked VERY hard all year, and the boss
was very appreciative and SHOWED US THE MONEY!

My bonus this year was 10% of my annual salary.

No. They pay me pretty well as it is, I get quarterly bonuses 4 times a year, and to be honest - I couldn't ask for a Christmas Bonus with a straight face.

It's a fantastic company, the pay is already outstanding, and they like having me around. Having a job at Christmas is good enough for me. When I signed the dotted line, I agreed to a compensation plan, not a bonus every year.

Not this year.

Glad i wasn't counting on it, though. It's called a bonus for a reason. It's extra money. Sometimes you get a bonus, sometimes you don't. We had a major cost overrun on a project, and we're all sweating it out. We're very optimistic about getting things turned around for next year, though.

$25 lowes gift card!!!!!

That's pretty sad for the largest military contractor in the world with record 05 year profits. On top of that new hires will not qualify for retirement starting in Jan 2006 and we lost our overtime charging this year. Hell, our raises if you want to call it that will not even cover the rise in gas prices. I am glad I still have a job and I know it could be worse, but it seem to be getting harder and harder to make a living every year no matter what field you are in.

Working for the Defense/Aerospace industry is not what it use to be. The days of profit sharing is long gone for most folks unless you are a Exec.

I can't wait till my business goes full time.

Hell no.

I work in a hospital, a small private one, so I'm lucky if we can even keep our doors open. The director of the department that I work in is loaded, and she personally gives all of her staff a $20 Target gift card for Christmas. Not bad I suppose, considering she has like 50 people under her.

From what I've heard but can't confirm, is that at her previous job she'd give her OR staff a card with a $100 bill tucked inside.

In any case it's no big deal. I like my job and the people I work with and my supervisors are cool.
