Not attending Cola Warrior when it was in TX. That and not pursuing my high school crush in high school >.>

Don't get married young.
At a young age, apply yourself in school. I have been married 30 years, and got a college degree at 47..... |
|
Not getting intomguns and shooting earlier. I started in my early 30s. Wish I did it in my late teens.

Not serving in the military. If I had stayed in, I could have retired 5 years ago. I was so fucking stupid getting out. If I managed to stay for 30 I could have retired 2 years ago |

Should have joined the Marines instead of army. Should have went active duty straight out of highschool. Should have went to college. Should have not been such an asshole in high school, could have got way more pussy. Shouldn't have done 2 things which will go unnamed. I'm sure there's plenty more but it's 330am and I'm tired.
ETA, not getting into cola warrior sooner. |
|
Don't stick it in the crazy is number one on my list.
Not having horses in my life until very late is another one. Maybe I wasn't ready for them when I was younger though? |
|
Looking back at the past is good for two things. What I can learn from it, and good memories. Regret nothing, it serves no good purpose. There's often a lesson to be learned from past behavior that didn't turn out well. How could you have handled the situation differently? What would you choose to do based on what you now know? If you learn from a mistake something good came out of it.

I'm 71 years old.OF COURSE I have regrets;but I don't spend much time looking over my shoulder.
"There's nothing I can do about it now" |

There's plenty of things I could have done, but I have no way of telling if they'd have worked out, so I'm happy with what I've got.
However, I have learned a lot from not making/making certain decisions, and that has given me a wealth of knowledge. |

View Quote Eh, slight mods for me: one of the things I'm proudest of is getting married young. I didn't let my wife go and become the woman I'd pine for the rest of my life. But staying in school is definitely the biggest regret I have. I'd be so much further along right now if I'd just knuckled down and studied. I graduated last year at age 44. Currently underemployed, hoping to start reaping some rewards soon. Probably having more of a backbone with regards to my career would also have served me well, but not as well as the BA. |
|
I always tell people who say "If I could go back to being young and know what I know now", that I would just screw it up again...

you laid your money down and you rolled the dice....its all preordained anyways..

A year ago I would have said precious few. Today it's a long list
I wish I hadn't listened to my "friends" so much in my youth. I wish I had done ANYTHING other than I am doing now as a career. I wish I had only had ONE child (and pick which one). That's just for starters |
|
Trying to think of one, then I realized how much is regret it if I wasted another precious minute of life pondering this.

I have a bunch of regrets. One of them is that I wish I had seen this thread and posted earlier, instead of halfway down the second page, where no one will read it.

I went to really great schools my whole life and had every opportunity to get a great education. I partied instead from about 16 on. I really regret that. Also I didn't handle problems in my marriage until it was too late.
I'm currently trying to get a handle on other problems so I don't have to regret them in a few years. |

Everybody says no. It's the coolest answer. They're full of shit. I live a charmed life, and I have plenty. View Quote Pretty much this. My brother and I were talking about this the other day. Anyone who says they have no regrets is just giving the expected response. The way this life works with one pass through it is impossible to not have them. While I find plenty of things to whine about all in all I am blessed beyond measure. |

Not serving.
Wife #1. (although, I do have some awesome kids from her. But I wish she would dissappear ) |
|
People tell their kids to be engineers. Engineers tell their kids to be lawyers.
I wish I had got an accounting degree, then gone to law school and been a tax lawyer. Instead I got an engineering degree. It pays well, but my earning potential is a third to a half of what it would have been as a lawyer. Engineering and law are very similar. In both subjects you have a set of rules you have to understand, and then you attempt to manipulate things within those rules to your advantage. |

I wish I would of had videoed my sexcapades from my early teens to twenties. I wish I had invested money I blew in my youth on stupid shit like new cars, stereos, etc. I wish I had spent more time enjoying said sexcapades instead of trying to line up the next one. I wish I had been more appreciative of small, perky breasts. Jeez, I see a trend here. I wish I was 23 again.

I do have regrets although the list isn't as long as it used to be. I don't live in the past. You can always change and improve.
My biggest regret is not going active duty when I graduated HS. |
|
Sure. A number of them.
15 years ago, wish I had pushed it harder on a mountain. Probably would have met with the same end result, maybe worse, but certainty sits better than doubt. |
|
There are many. I try not to look back, but the "what if's" sometimes cause me to get down on myself.
|
|
I'd have stayed in the reserves, yet, a bad injury stole that option from me.
I wouldnt have gone into Police work. Fuck that! I wouldnt have played football. Love the game but dont love being a charter member of Monty Pythons Ministry of Funny Walks. For that matter I wouldnt have boxed either. I'd have been on the Golf team, would be able to think and walk today, and would have gotten as much stinky pinky I'd bet. I'd have had more kids. Yes they are a pain in the ass but theres nothing like coming home to a bunch of squalling brats. Last I'd have set up shop in a more pro-gun/freedom state. I despise Liberalism. |
|
Loads, but nothing that I can't live with.
The most tragic thing is that in high school I lacked confidence, was a bit shy, and failed to recognize or act on a LOT of signals from girls that were interested in me. I missed out on so much ass. |
|
I regret not finishing college when I was young.
I regret getting out of shape. I've fixed one of these items, and I'm working on the second. All things considered, I have minimal regrets. |
|
Should've chosen a different degree.
Maybe shouldve asked out the neighbor girl in high school. Could've made a 5 digit return on Super Soakers in my teens if I'd been paying attention. That one will always tick me off. |
|
You bet. I could have been a better, smarter, and more humble man many times and to many people. That is the life of a flawed human. Learn from your past and make your current life as good as you can.
And yes......there are several chicks i wish i had banged. |

2000 FXDX 2001 FLHRCI ...just to get started View Quote Had a 2003 FXDX, gave it back to Harley. Ive had my 2008 XL1200C for 8 years now. My regret is drinking for 25 years to forget the horrors I saw when I was overseas in the Army from age 17-19. Only thing I forgot was everything I did in those 25 years, some memories never fade. For those of you that missed the calling to serve, we call you the lucky ones. Yet we that crossed the line, and came back, We call each other the lucky ones. |
