Peel them? I can barely cut them with a toenail cutter. I have huge hands and thick nails, the toenail clippers get used there too.

If you can peel your nail off, you have a fungus infection or some other issue. Your nail should be firmly attached and would hurt like hell and bleed like a mofo if you try to remove it. Go see a doctor. Freaking disgusting.
