It was getting old...Kind of like Mythbusters. I stopped watching that show a couple of years ago. It was getting way to lame. |

That sucks, Dirty Jobs had at least an honesty about the show, not the made up drama, dysfunctional family relations that's has become a mainstay of television.
|

Campaigned with Mitt too, well hope he still gets his ford commercials or narrates for other shows.
|
|
That's a shame. I liked seeing what other people do for a living. I found it very interesting.

Quoted: Well, they were doing a good job of hiding any new episodes for the last year or so. I think they moved it around the schedule too much. Yeah they were. And a 4 episode season, that no one knew was coming, was over before people caught on. |

Quoted: All good things... http://www.mikeroweworks.com/scrap-yard/mikes-blog/ It never fails. Whenever Dirty Jobs goes off the air for a few months, people start to wonder if the show has been canceled. Rumors begin to swirl, and questions about the show’s future fill my inbox. Over the years it’s been my pleasure to assure anxious fans that Dirty Jobs is coming back for another season. And indeed, we always have. Alas, this year, I’m afraid I cannot dispel the rumors. A few weeks ago, I was officially informed that Dirty Jobs had entered into a new phase. One I like to call, "permanent hiatus.” Or in the more popular industry vernacular, canceled. My first instinct was to immediately pass the news on to you, but frankly, it’s taken me a few weeks to digest. Dirty Jobs is a very personal show, and it’s difficult for me to imagine a future that does not involve exploding toilets, venomous snakes, misadventures in animal husbandry, and feces from every species. Nevertheless, the future is here, and while it does not appear to contain any more Dirty Jobs, it will almost certainly include another Thanksgiving. So in the spirit of the holiday, I’d like to thank those people most responsible for reinvigorating my erstwhile career, and launching the most honest show in the history of reality TV. ... Third, to my crew. .... It’s easy to forget – what with all the laughing and bleeding and vomiting and eighth grade shenanigans – just how excellent each and every one of you is at what you do. Well, I won’t forget. I promise. I’ll remember you always as a band of brothers, and do what I can to one day put the band back together. For now, there’s nothing else to say but thanks. You’re the best. ETA: The whole thing is a good read. He's a good man. Thanks to your research and support, we were able to build and launch an online Trade Resource Center, and today, mikeroweWORKS.com continues to make a noisy and compelling case for skilled labor. I think that’s pretty cool. In fact, The mikeroweWORKS Foundation has raised over a million dollars for trade school scholarships and tool stipends and has just announced a partnership with Scholarship America and funded a $250,000 educational grant to provide scholarships for those looking to finish their education in a skilled trade. That’s something you should all be proud of. |

It's not surprising:
With Dem's in power why should anybody have a job? Why bother working hard on a job when you can work on getting free goodies and such? The show was all about people Working For A Living. They may become filthy doing it, but there was something called Satisfaction From Doing A Job Well Done. |
|
For the final episode, they should have followed a bunch of welfare leeches around for a few days.
You know...just as a comparison. "These 200 episodes featured people working hard for their money. This last episode shows how your average welfare leech lives." |

Seems people are getting tired of reality tv BS. The networks went way overboard with that crap. I would hope so but the whole reality craze hasn't died yet, unfortunately. |

They had to make room for a new reality show "Food Stamp Wars"

Too bad, I liked Mike Rowe a lot, he was a guy's kind of guy. I really liked what he told Congress about skilled labor:

One of Discovery’s most popular programs, American Chopper helped pioneer the "docusoap” reality genre and inspired a surge of gear-head shows. Chopper‘s run will conclude with the previously announced four-way bike build-off special titled The Revenge airing live from Las Vegas on Dec. 11.

Fast N Loud is sure good, favorite show on TV bar none.
The one with Jesse James is gay. He seems kind of cocky now days. I used to like it when he did Monster Garage. I thought he was such a badass when I was younger. Nowdays I just think he is arrogant since he got really famous. |

I see this as a positive thing. DJ ran it's awesome course and now Mike Rowe can find another vehicle for his talents. He is one of the few personalities that many of us here would actually care to see and genuinely like.
Rowe is gonna be fine.

I can't believe no one has asked this yet.."so what's his user name here?"

If you can show me the heart of the reality t.v. craze I got a large wooden steak to drive through it, and a bottle of Holy Water to pour on it. It's going to be tough to kill. It's cheap to produce, low rent budget for cast, easy to kill off if it doesn't catch on enough to justify the ad revenue. Real TV shows, dramas, sitcoms, live entertainment, it's difficult to do, expensive and carries a greater risk. Even on the major networks, most of the "new" shows are very cheaply done compared to the past. The writing, sets, and quality of "actors" is a dead giveaway. We've reached the age of the "disposable" TV show. Use it up, then toss it. Edited 'cause I'z dumb n' kan't speel. |

I liked it. I would still watch it if I knew when it was on. There's not shit on that channel that's any good anymore so I don't know when it is, honestly didn't know it was still on. I blame the quality of the other shows for the lost viewership of Dirty Jobs more than the show itself.

Gonna miss the show, but like Calvin and Hobbes all the good things have to end sometime.

How coincidental. Gee - after Rowe's endorsement of Romney, you don't suppose the cancellation notice had a 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue return address, do you? Not at all. Why would liberals give a crap what Mike Rowe thinks? |

Never liked the show that much, love mike rowe though. I liked battlebots and junkyard wars a lot better but neither are.around anymore. To some extent I liked Monster garage until Jesse James became a douchebag.
