I still don't change my low opinion of the Conservative Party. Course Hoffman better run like the wind to the Republican Party. After the next census he'll be # 1 on the list of people to get rid of in redistricting if he stays independent. In my opinion the entire redistricting system needs to be scrapped. If gerrymandering werent' so prevalent we'd actually have have a democratic republic. In some areas, the carve outs of even single houses from neighborhoods is so absurd that you wind up with a very non representative batch of representatives. |

Her camp's actual statement, which I linked, says she's releasing to "two other candidates." It would be nice to see the news article's factual support for their assertion. It may be that a reporter just assumed that. her campaign manager told the paper that (or that's what the article says) I'm clicking around to try to get to the bottom of this. The National Republican Committee has for sure switched ITS support at least to Hoffman. (Welcome to the party boys, but you're a little late.) But HER website still contains her statement in which she does not come out for Hoffman, and says those who have supported her can transfer their support as they see fit. http://www.dedeforcongress.com/news/read.aspx?id=73 Try the Watertown Daily Times, that's the Watertown NY paper, they might have something, or channel 10 news in Syracuse |

Ohh don't complain about gerrymandering when talking about the 23rd. Look at the map TV news says new Sienna poll showed Scozzafa way behind Hoffman and Hoffman one point behind Owens (which probably means nothing with the error factor). They also repeated the statement from her website and said nothing about her supporting Hoffman. Syracuse paper would certainly not intentionally fudge anything to help out Hoffman, I am sure they endorsed Owens if they endorsed anyone. Owens is certainly more telegenic. Ds have not taken that district since 1870something or other. I hope the R throws behind him. I am unsure whether the C party can manage stuff like phone banks, getting old folks to the polls etc. I did see a bunch of people out with Hoffman signs this morning standing on the streets in the rain and a bunch more Hoffman signs have shown up over the past couple of days. |

So, with the official R candidate gone, and the Conservative Hoffman dead even with the Democrat, is it too early to say "we told you so"? Looks like Newt backed the wrong horse. As did the NRA. They endorsed Scozzafava. I let the NRA-ILA know what I thought about that and got a mealy-mouthed response back. |

There was no way she way gonna win. Dead last in polling. Staying in only risked having the Dem win, despite being a fairly conservative district. Now it looks like a Hoffman win. Big victory for the good guys, and for Palin in particular. Hope we see this repeated all over the US in 2010; run a conservative, or we'll run one for you. I asked this on the other thread, but what does it have anything to do with Palin? I don't quite understand (I didn't follow this election). |

Unfortunately, I don't think that's a given. She was more liberal than the Dim in some cases. It should be very interesting. I hope you're right, but you have to wonder about any of the supposed conservatives that were backing the Republican RINO. Just how conservative are they? I hope it's just a case of them feeling a little reluctant to vote 3rd party and now they can with a clear conscience. This would be an awesome precedent to set leading into 2010. I'm sure BHO will be looking for an upgraded teleprompter soon. His old one quit working. It has nothing to do with the politics of the individual candidate.... it has to do with getting 218 (Rs) in the House of Representatives, so we can get a Republican House leadership... That's the goal... And if that means running a few moderate-to-liberal (Rs)... So be it.... How do you think the Dems got where they are now? It's not about how the 'Blue Dogs' vote on legislation to them, it's about who they pick to lead the chambers |

The Republicans had senate, house, and presidency under W and F'D IT UP by being Rinos. Campaign finance reform, immigration reform, education bill, prescription drug entitlement, voted out of office in droves. I would rather have gridlock than a clear Rino majority.
But a Reagan/Rush/Palin themed conservative majority wold rock. |

Also, the campaign isn't over. There might be a November Surprise. Most likely, the the bulk of the 20% goes to anything not a D. Some of the 20% will sit out, because they just liked their candidate. I predict comfortable win for Hoffman, as long as nothing big happens between now and then. |

Posted Via AR15.Com Mobile While I agree that this is a good thing, I don't find myself getting real excited, because it's a republican seat anyway. Republican turns lib, loses spot in the race to an actual republican. Not THAT big of a deal. It shows a good trend in the party. I think the VA governor's race is a little big bigger deal, and win or lose, the fact that we're in the position we are in NJ is something to get excited about. |
