I have read a lot about 12-21-12 and one of the most interesting facts centers around our solar system passing through the milky way's plane and into an area called the dark rift.

The Mayans knew of this part of our galaxy (no one knows how they knew about it). It is the dirtiest part of our galaxy. It is filled with big rocks.

Forget about the consequences of the extreme polarity change to be experienced via our passing through the plane on that date. Whatever remains on earth after that will experience a barrage of meteorites.

Look at the moon. we have passed through it many times before.

The earth will not end on that date but man may.

The Mayans aren't extinct. They're still down in Mexico. The "Mexicans" and their government hate the Mayans and tend to treat them like crap since they don't have any noble Spanish blood in them.

the Mayans knew and traced the MOVEMENT of heavenly bodies. They did it very well. They were obsessed with it. They DID NOT KNOW WHAT THOSE HEAVENlY BODIES WERE. Our current position the western spiral arm of th Milky Way has NOTHING to do with gravitational or magnetic polar forces in respect to our own planet. The gravitation effects of the Milky Way are enough to keep us IN the Milky Way....and that is about it.

No, the moon and the earth have swept the soloar system clean of the early debris fields that existed very early in the chaotic, early days of the solar system.

So are you saying that there is no such thing as the dark rift and that our solar system will not begin passing through it on 12-21-12?

Are you saying that on that date that the sun will not reverse its polarity which can have a substantial impact on the earth include causing the earth to reverse its polarity?

We sure do got a lot of Mayan lovers around here.......

One thing to consider, we've totally hosed up our own calender and have had to fix it several times (including a time in the 16th century when the pope cut 10 days out of the year, and the Protestants refused to go with the change so you had London 10 days ahead of Paris right across the channel, a hell of a time zone change)

Who knows when the Mayan calendar was going to end? Was it December 21st, 2012 on the Gregorian calendar? The Protestant calendar? One of the other many competing calendars that we've had over the years?
