Dims will get the boost they need when Northam rides his antigun platform to win Va governor's race in November.

Let's go batvshit insane against the president who is saving and generating jobs people can see in their lives while their 401k goes thru the roof. And call the overwhelming majority of the country racist.

Yeah, that's the ticket!

With all due respect, I believe we are at a place here where history goes out the window. We are charting completely new territory here with Trump as President and a Democratic party that is melting down and fracturing before our very eyes. The dems no longer have a message, they are just a group of factions brought together by identity politics that were held together by Obama. Now that he's gone, they are falling apart.

The dems have been running their campaigns saying "Vote for us because you are: insert identity here: LGBTQ, black, illegal, etc.. " but they need to be running thier campaigns saying "We are...the party of: insert philosophy here: they have none. "

He's right you know.  Historically the party in power loses big in mid-terms.  If they actually are losing by much less than they were expected to, then that points to them gaining momentum as well.  Now his prediction on 50 seats is just a pipe dream but one that he needs to promote to keep his base motivated.

The pendulum is about to break.

One of the things I learned in a University American government class about 8 years ago is that there's only been four times in history when the party with the executive branch gained seats during the mid-term and it was always because of a major event taking place right before the election -- think September 11 2001 just before the GW Bush mid-terms where Republicans then gained seats.

The party that doesn't have the presidency is always more motivated during the mid-term elections.

Expect Republicans to lose a lot of seats.  Whatever isn't accomplished by the end of next year might not get accomplished at all.  That's why it's so disappointing watching Republicans sit around and do nothing.

Oh, they're doing something.   They're working with the Democrats to make sure Trump doesn't derail the gravy train.  There is more money and job security in feeding at the Democrat trough on their leftovers.

Who is more delusional a person who repeats information based on the average of what has happened in the past or a person whose opinion ignores all historical facts?  Serious question, because most people in thread are ignoring all the historical facts and basing their opinion on emotions.

My Republican US Rep is one of the seats the Democrats are funneling tons of money to in order to flip.  His district includes a huge liberal city and they would love nothing more than to use him as indicator that liberals are mad an organized.  He came to our GOP party fundraiser last night and spoke.  According to a Republican US Rep who is in a fight to keep his seat, the first mid-term election after a presidential election where the party in power changed results in a loss of 30 House seats for that party.  When the President has a low approval rating, similar to what Trump has, the party in power loses 50 seats.  So unless any of you here are members of the House and being targeted by the Democrats, I will have to defer to my US Rep and his information.

As I heard numerous times last night, "Now is not the time to think we have won.  It is the time to get involved and do more."
