If they'd make a forged piston/etc components kit for my Dodge 1500 Hemi, I'd take that with a good supercharger anyday. Even a good turbocharger...

(As the pistons and some other parts are cast, it does well as it is, but you add all that extra boost constantly...things go boom )

Odd that so many dream of accessable vehicles.  Seems like a misuse of dreams.

Also a bit unusual that so many went to pure performance sacrificing other concerns.  Not me, I'll take my Aston... In my dreams at least...

Is that an MJB pr M38? I was looking at an M38A1.

That is either a MB (Willys) or a GPW (Ford)

Here is the M38A1

There is quite a difference between the WWII jeeps and the later ones.

I see what you are getting at.  But I know I have a better chance of getting a WWII jeep in my life then a Lamborghini or a Ferrari.  I guess some want to keep there dreams realistic.

*From the list, the Ford GT. I seen it beat the shit out of a few a Ferraris on The Learning Channel.
*An early K Code fastback.
*The all new Shelby Cobra in awesome.
*The Porsche GT Carrera.
*Even though it is a heavy beast, and looks for shit, the new GTO. Because it is affordable.

Edit, spelling.

No Hertz model in 65, started in '66 with the first few being sticks, and the later ones were autos.

And the GT rocks, a good tribute to the original GT40, the only American car to win LeMans outright, not just class wins like the Corvette and Viper, and they did it 4 years in a row with the last two times with the same car.

love to see the comparison tests that any production Ford GT has been in... I haven't seen one.

eta: not to mention that what happened with the GT40 in the 60s has very little relevance to a modern production supercar

Incorrect, legal boy.  They had to make a certain of street cars in order to race back then.  If you bought one, they flew you to England and the seats and pedals were custom fitted for you.

Are you sure about that LarryG?  GT40s ran in the "prototype class".  I am not sure what the rules were back then but I know that Audi, Mercedes, and Cadillac do not make a certain number of production cars based on their prototype Le Mans cars.

The Daytona Coupe which won the GT class in 1964 had a total production number of 6.  I am not sure if Shelby was able to add regular Cobras to come up with a production number quota if there was one required though.

Go see this link.  It may have raced the first couple of years as a prototype, but in 1966, it raced in the GT class and it had to have a street model built.

Ford GT40 MK3

As for the Cobra Daytona coupe, it was built on a standard Cobra chassis, thus the numbers for all Cobras counted.  And the GT class definitely had to build so many and that is still true today.
