Call out thread? Nice..no really, we should all totally not do that anymore. Even after seeing a half a dozen posts every day for months about how great Ron Paul is while completely ignoring what Ron Paul says. It's not what he meant to say or he did'nt really mean to say that or he is just following the constitution. You treat the entire board as though they are low class retards that need to bow to your political brilliance and knowledge of what we need in a President. Right. Get right on that. You brought this on yourselves..and it will be part of ARFcom lore for years to come. Crazy = Ron Paul supporter is what everyone is seeing. I think it's you paulbots that need to change the way you are viewed, not regular members. Calling a traitor a hero..there are no words to describe how totally insane that statement is, yet you still will vote for him. Who is crazier? The leader or the lemming? You are a fun person, and I value our friendship. |

OP, I think we can put a stop to the insults leveled against you and yours immediately after you and yours stop with the nonsense about "hating the Constitution" and "hating freedom," etc. Deal? Just answer this: Does the CoC allow a poster to call another member "fucking lunatic, batshit insane, or retarded idiot?" Not directly, no. OTOH, I'm betting you are trying to make the point that an oblique reference constitutes a direct attack. "Anyone who who agrees with Ron Paul that America deserved the 9/11 attacks and Manning is a hero is a "fucking lunatic, batshit insane, or retarded idiot."" is perfectly acceptable. The fact you happen to fit that description (if you do) does not make it a "personal attack." |

I will call Rick Perry an idiot, but I will not call a member one for instance. I will question the moral convictions of someone who talks about freedom but would vote for Romney.... But I won't call that member an idiot. |

The alternative to Paul is some asshole who supports gun control, supports national healthcare, and ran the most fucked up liberal state in the union. Paulbots are crazy but not anywhere near as centrist if not downright liberal as Romney supporters. Give us a viable candidate but don't tell us that the only hope is some fucking Rino liberal shitbag. Until someone better comes along, I'm supporting the guy that believes in freedom rather than the candidate who supports an over reaching authoritarian socialist government.

And it is followed by "Obama supporters are fucking clueless morons." That is probably a coc violation. We should be able to articulate that we disagree with a person's philosophy without insultig members. |

But that's the whole point, isn't it? If you are participating in a thread about auto repair, and someone disagrees with your opinion on an intake manifold, and then calls you a dirty traitor because you support Ron Paul, then of course that's a personal attack. But if it's a thread on political discussion, and (for example) a Ron Paul supporter tell someone that they hate freedom and aren't a patriot because they support a RINO, and that person then says that the Ron Paul supporter is batshit crazy and insane because they support Ron Paul - then it's kind of all the same thing and part of a a heated political exchange, and one certainly isn't "more" of an insult than the other. |

Coming into GD and asking people to stop calling Ron Paul names, is like going into a kindergarten class and telling people to act grown up.
The average person in GD is: bitter, short tempered, somewhat childish and not an intellectual. There's a lot of smart people I look up to here, but most people I could do without. Asking them to change is like asking a Ron Paul voter to consider other candidates. Or asking a Paul hater to not personally attack Ron. |

If Ron Paul makes it through the primary, it will actually be the surest sign I can imagine that the electorate has no say in our election process. If he is nominated, it will be despite the most strenuous efforts of his detractors and his supporters both, with most of the defamatory credit going to the latter group.
"Well... What Ron Paul WinstonSmith really MEANT was..." You guys are your own worst enemies. You're unconvincing. You not only fail to inspire thought, but instead actively conspire against it. I find myself having to hold my nose to get through the thick Paulbot crust to find out what the man actually thinks about issues, and it's neither easy nor particularly rewarding once the task is complete. Your silence would serve your candidate better than anything you've said in support of him. You are actually the Anti-Paul Campaign. Congratulations. If he loses, you have nobody to thank but yourselves. |
