My saiga-12 has a 20 round drum.

The big draw to the Saiga-12 back when they first came out is that they were CHEAP.  I bought my first one from CDNN for $199.  And that was only 4 years ago.

Heck, a year or 18 months ago they were regularly going for about $320.

Now a big part of the draw is the myriad of aftermarket accessories available for it.

Sounds like you and I got in on the same clearance sale.

I remember when a local shop couldn't give those away. I missed out.

Well, if you're ever in the neighborhood, a test drive could be arranged

Pretty much, how about taking some of that membership money and getting a good quality microphone and camera light?

I thought M4 stocks on shotguns were highly frowned upon here.

It's there.  Right where it is on an AR.

Gotta look quickly and carefully, though.  Footage is a little grainy and the guy doesn't exactly give an all-over-every-inch view of it.

Over on CMMG's Industry forum, CMMG says it won't be a DD ("We hammered out a sample right before SHOT; it is still a work in progress. As it gets closer information will be made available. I will say this: It will not be a DD.").  It'll be interesting to see the final product.

Holy shit, that's exactly what I was thinking.  If I was there at the SHOT show I would go to CMMGs booth and bitch to them about the quality of their taper pins.  Never heard about the barrel threading though.

Saiga-12s were just shy of $700 at the Cincy Goodman Show today.

Serious question:
If they get screwed and it does get ruled a DD after they start selling it is there any reason they can't keep selling them as NFA weapons? I know they want more sales than that but if the ATF changes their mind is there anything keeping those of us wanting to buy the stamp from getting them?

Quoted:
I've been saying it for years - CMMG barrels should never has a suppressor attached.  Just watch the number of threads here in the last couple years how many have had baffle strikes. The bores are off center, the threads are off center, the threads are undersized, the barrels as a "hole" are poor quality pieces of crap. We cant count how many we received for threading that are so bad - we just send back to the customer with a note that they need a better barrel.

18 U.S.C. 921(a)(4): DESTRUCTIVE DEVICE

26 U.S.C. 5845(f)(2): DESTRUCTIVE DEVICE

(Nonsporting shotgun having a bore of more than one-half inch in diameter)

The registration period for the USAS-12, Striker-12, and
Streetsweeper shotguns will close on May 1, 2001.

ATF Rul. 2001-1

     Pursuant to ATF Rulings 94-1 (ATF Q. B. 1994-1, 22) and 94-2
(ATF Q. B. 1994-1, 24), the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms
(ATF) classified the USAS-12, Striker 12, and Streetsweeper
shotguns as destructive devices under the National Firearms Act
(NFA), 26 U.S.C. Chapter 53.  The NFA requires that certain
"firearms" be registered and imposes taxes on their making and
transfer.  The term "firearm" is defined in section 5845 to include
"destructive devices."  The term "destructive device" is defined in
section 5845(f)(2) as follows:

     [T]he term 'destructive device' means . . . (2) any type of
weapon by whatever name known which will, or which may be
readily converted to, expel a projectile by the action of an
explosive or other propellant, the barrel or barrels of which
have a bore of more than one-half inch in diameter, except a
shotgun or shotgun shell which the Secretary finds is
generally recognized as particularly suitable for sporting
     purposes; . . .

The USAS-12, Striker 12, and Streetsweeper shotguns were
classified as destructive devices pursuant to section 5845(f)
because they are shotguns with a bore of more than one-half inch in
diameter which are not generally recognized as particularly
suitable for sporting purposes.

     Pursuant to 26 U.S.C. 7805(b), ATF. Ruls. 94-1 and 94-2 were
issued prospectively with respect to the making, transfer, and
special (occupational) taxes imposed by the NFA.  Thus, although
the classification of the three shotguns as NFA weapons was
retroactive, the prospective application of the tax provisions
allowed registration without payment of tax.  ATF has contacted all
purchasers of record of the shotguns to advise them of the
classification of the weapons as destructive devices and that the
weapons must be registered.  ATF has registered approximately 8,200
of these weapons to date.

Held, the registration period for the USAS-12, Striker-12, and
Streetsweeper shotguns will close on May 1, 2001.  No further
registrations will be accepted after that date.  Persons in
possession of unregistered NFA firearms are subject to all
applicable penalties under 26 U.S.C. Chapter 53.

Date signed: February 2, 2001.

I do not think a 2.2 caliber shotgun would be very effective; a 41.0 caliber would be mildly effective and if you are talking about the guns from turkey that is what you mean.

410 gauge ~= 2.2 caliber (10 times smaller than a 22)
67.5 gauge ~= 41.0 caliber or .410" commonly just called a 410.
