57 and dead because of the flu? Not trying to be a dick but did he have cancer, AIDS, hep c or some other chronic condition? Healthy 57 year olds should not die from the flu.

I grew up on Iron Maiden, GnR, Metallica, etc.. but Prince was always up there too. The guy had talent. View Quote View All Quotes View All Quotes Quoted:

Was never a fan. He was a musical genius, I'll give him that. But it wasn't my kind of music although a few of his early songs were catchy and not bad. I grew up on Iron Maiden, GnR, Metallica, etc.. but Prince was always up there too. The guy had talent. He had that crazy awesome solo on that My Guitar Gently Weeps live performance. Slowly, gently, whatever. |

First a woman who wanted to be a man, then a man who wanted to be a woman... balance has been restored to the force.

AP has reported it now after confirmation from his publicist.

You can't watch that solo he did with Tom Petty on 'My Guitar Gently Weeps' and not be a fan

I wasn't really a fan of his music or the genre but he was a musical genius, I mean, the guy played his own musical accompaniment!

I'm gonna go with undiagnosed pneumonia at the ER, and I feel bad for the dude who missed the diagnosis, because a world of hurt is about to rain down on anyone involved in his brief stay and rapid discharge. View Quote Probably so, especially if he was worsening after 2 weeks of influenza. Sad all the way around. |

saw him in concert once, awesome performer
Sucks seeing all these celebrities my age or not much older die off. I may need to start looking over my shoulder for the grim reaper. |

Like the guy's music or not, 57 is too young.
He was a superstar and gave any artist a run for their money in his live shows. Great performer. |

Man, there's gotta be a "Doris Roberts, Chyna, and Prince at the Pearly Gates" joke in there somewhere...

Slowly, gently, whatever. One of the most underrated guitarists ever. Huge metalhead here, oddly always had a place for his music. Purple Rain was one of the first two albums I ever bought as a kid (Van Halen 1984 being the other). |

Wow, that sucks. Eccentric as all get out, but insanely talented.
As a 45 year old, I say 57 is way too young. |

Pneumonia is the big one, and at 57 with over exertion and little rest, it could absolutely kill. |

I'm actually kinda bummed about this. He was definitely his own person and was a great musician. He wasn't a fluke, he was the real deal. I also don't recall him ever being negative to anyone. Seemed to treat everyone well. Not a shitbag. Was he kinda weird? Yeah, but he was harmless. Insanely talented. View Quote Yep, this |

That's what I'm thinking, what else is there? My sales manager died two years avowed his flu went into pneumonia. They were going to release him on a Friday because he seemed better. They decided to keep him in the hospital for another day. He died that Sunday in the hospital. He was 54. Never knew him to take a sick day in the three years he works for me. RIP Dennis. |

That is a shame.
I was showing my wife some of his stuff about a week ago and noted that his stuff is so hard to find on the internet that whole generations of people are grown now and never knew just how talented he was. Hopefully his estate will just release his stuff on youtube and let today's music fans see his talent. |
