It's a felony-grade assault for a student to hit a teacher (or any staff- janitors, etc), it definitely should be the same the other way around.

I don't have a kid, let alone a disabled one, but I would lose my shit.     That is unconscionable behavior

Because PCness (the government) says it must be tolerated by the aggrieved segment. It's elevating one section of society, while demeaning the other. By government dictate. Supercitizens vs. 2nd class ones. 1934.

I'm not sure about the laws in Ohio, but the laws in your own State qualify this as a felony, aggravated battery:

(720 ILCS 5/12-3.05) (was 720 ILCS 5/12-4)
   Sec. 12-3.05. Aggravated battery.
.........
(b) Offense based on injury to a child or intellectually disabled person. A person who is at least 18 years of age commits aggravated battery when, in committing a battery, he or she knowingly and without legal justification by any means:
       (1) causes great bodily harm or permanent disability

or disfigurement to any child under the age of 13 years, or to any severely or profoundly intellectually disabled person; or
       (2) causes bodily harm or disability or disfigurement

to any child under the age of 13 years or to any severely or profoundly intellectually disabled person.
   (c) Offense based on location of conduct. A person commits aggravated battery when, in committing a battery, other than by the discharge of a firearm, he or she is or the person battered is on or about a public way, public property, a public place of accommodation or amusement, a sports venue, or a domestic violence shelter.
   (d) Offense based on status of victim. A person commits aggravated battery when, in committing a battery, other than by discharge of a firearm, he or she knows the individual battered to be any of the following:
       (1) A person 60 years of age or older.
       (2) A person who is pregnant or physically

handicapped.

.............
So, perhaps you should educate yourself to what a felony is before calling people "nuts."

All races  in America “fought” so that nobody would have to serve.....

where is our pal Al Sharpton

Quoted:
A black teacher in Cincinnati, Ohio has resigned after she slapped a handicapped white child and screamed at him that blacks in America “fought” so that they wouldn’t have to “serve white people like him.”

This creep resigned not after students complained, but after her own teachers assistants complained of her abusive actions! It was going on for months, apparently.

Intervention Specialist Pamela Bullock has left her position at Wayne Local Schools in Warren County, after four teaching assistants wrote a letter to administrators detailing her abuse toward students.

In one incident, the assistants reported that Ms. Bullock was taking care of a handicapped, non-verbal student, when she became irate at him. Bullock threw a marker at the boy, hitting him in the head.

Yeah they pick on the wrong person, get their ass kicked, and then claim racism. It's been the trend for many years now.

Really?  Every time regardless of all other circumstances - as in zero tolerance?  Please provide the citation(s).

Hitting a cop isn't a guaranteed felony most places - I don't teachers are different.  Ask Extorris how many people the NY DA's charged with felony assault of a cop................

The bold part applies to this case, not what you highlighted in red.  In addition, battery in a public place can also be considered a felony.
I really don't have a problem with this teacher (for lack of better word) be charged with a felony.

Yes. He committed the microaggressions of being white and breathing.  Not to mention mentally disabled. So why isn't this a national story run 24/7 with white people rioting in the streets?

Firing requires a process to be followed - and that takes time.  Time for which she will be paid to do nothing because she would be removed from a classroom.  Resigning ends the paycheck.  Former employer can still tell any prospective employer she resigned while under investigation.  Hopefully a criminal conviction would have her credentials revoked thus preventing future employment in the field.
