I went up to Atlanta (from Florida) last week to spend Easter with the grandchildren. We were in Alpharetta. We drove back this morning around I-285. Absolutely no problems. Traffic sparse and moving at 70 MPH.
Of course we left at 3:30 AM. It was a nightmare last Thursday when we drove up and it wasn't even rush hour. If I-20 gets screwed also it will be hell for the people living up there and anybody from the south traveling north through Atlanta. |

I've lived within 120 miles of Atlanta for over 35 years. One pass through, twice to catch a plane and once to take the ex shopping/kids to Six Flags. One gap was almost 15 years. Diverted around it multiple times. Only city I've seen that truly confounds a Garmin. Guessing, if I'm lucky, I'll never lay eyes on it's skyline again. The road system was laid out by tards.

DeKalb County Police tell CBS46 that an underground gas leak caused a defect in the roadway, causing it to buckle. A crew was replacing a 36 inch gas line in the area and were filling the outdated pipe with cement, which caused the pressure to build up. That caused the pipe to burst and the roadway to buckle. Crews estimate the the project could take up to 24 hours to repair so those who commute into the city using that route will most-likely have to find an alternate route. |
