I use a homemeade concoction that's about 90% chili powder. Now I use 'Slap Yo Mama!" (hot). That stuff is great!!!!!!!

Putting any type of sugar, including brown sugar, in a rub can scortch if the temps get too high. Low and slow are your friends.

Y'all bear in mind that meat stops taking smoke at 180 degrees, so keep your temps LOW....for a LONG time!!
