He who controls the past controls the future.
He who controls the present controls the past. George Orwell. Our history and culture is being destroyed every day by OUR government. I am proud to be an American, but future generations are being groomed by those in power to despise American history. |

I'm proud of my country but I'm not proud of my government or 50% of the people who live here.

Of being an American yes, of what America has become and will become, no.
We used to be the most highly industrialized nation in the world. "Made in America" meant quality and we were proud of it. Now most of our consumer goods are made overseas and we buy them at Wally World. We used to lead the world in having the largest middle class population. We slipped to #29 (and we're still slipping). We used to be the richest nation in the world. Now we're the biggest debtor nation. We used to be self-reliant and didn't want help. Now we have 101 million on Federal food assistance. 49 million plus on Welfare. Only one in two Americans work full time. And guys, in a few years from now we'll look back at 2013 and wistfully think, those were the good old days. |

You love the American people?
lol, no. Fuck the American people. |

The thing that has realy puzzled me since I moved to the USA, every one I meet pretends to be something else.
It goes like this, "Hi nice to meet you" "Where are you from?" "I'm from the UK" "I'm Irish, (Scottish, German, etc.)" "Oh realy where about's ?" "We'll my great great great grandma had a friend who once met someone from Ireland !" Please be proud to be American! I sure will be when I become a citizen! |

Hard to be proud when I can't really tell you what America stands for anymore. It sure as hell ain't freedom as our freedoms are slipping away from us at a faster clip every year. Better than most but headed the wrong way in a hurry. I can't remember the country in such disarray since the Arab Oil Embargo. That was small potatoes compaired to the fail today. To be honest I'm prouder to be a Virginian. I'm not real big on that whole Union thing anyway. I think Virginia would be better off on it's own. View Quote Amen. |

I love what our country was. Don't like what it has and is becomming.
I love freedom. Not a country. Id turn my back on this piece of dirt ina second if there was a place to go to give freedom another chance. Just like the people that fled England to come here. |

I'm proud of being American.
I'm also proud of knowing that you are not supposed to put a space after the last word of a sentence before the punctuation. Ever. |

Let's see here...
I'll go to jail if a certain unapproved plant grows in my backyard, even if mother nature dropped the seed and I just so happened to not know it. I can't write a post on the interwebz, send a text message, or make a phone call without Uncle Sam listening in. I can't buy, sell, or get paid for working without Uncle Sam taking a cut...and if I disagree, Uncle Sam comes to my house with more guns than I've got. I can't go to Uncle Sam's house and exercise my 1st Amendment right to express my dissatisfaction with government without being arrested, if I do not first apply for and receive a permit for the privilege of doing so. That list could go on and on and on, but I think you get the idea. Someone please remind me of why I should be proud of what this nation has become... |

Yes, this was and still is the greatest place on earth- the greatest society humanity has ever known.
We are the economic engine for the entire world. We sneeze and everyone catches a cold. I find the defeatist posts on here to be a pathetic waste of my time.

I used to be.
Not so much anymore. I might be willing to say, I'm proud of half America. |

I'm definitely proud to be an American. America is the best country that has even existed on this planet. Her history and Her rise to the most powerful in such a short time shows what we can do when we put our mind to it.
With that said "America" has been going in a bad direction lately, and if you ask me that question again in 20 or 30 years I don't know what my answer will be. |

I'm old - lets just say aint the country i grew up in and if Mexicans get amnesty you'll never see anything close to freedoms we had in the 50's -80's as they bring in 30-40 million democrats through family unification.

Proud. No. but i do know i have it better than the majority of the world and im thankful for that. When America does something to be proud of ill be right there but from where im looking that isnt gonna happen anytime soon.

I'm not proud to be a subject of this government. There's a profound and widening difference between the two. |
