great fight. pulver has an amazing chin--almost looked like a rocky balboa fight. faber's hand speed is absolutely insane, and those hooks that turn into short elbows are brutal.
i do have to say that it looked like pulver really lacked the killer instinct tonight, though. he had faber truly rocked about 5 times, but seemed tenative about stepping in to finish or do major damage. it almost seemed like he was waiting for the one perfect opening for the left hand glory shot instead of taking the openings he had. he'd land a good 1-2, then back off. at first i thought it was patience, but after round 3, it seemed more like overcautiousness.
all in all, pulver had his chances, but faber clearly won the fight. very, very classy performance by both fighters--faber giving respect at the beginning of round 5 really impressed me, and the post fight commentary by both guys made this a special event for the entire sport.
i was rooting for pulver, but faber's skill, grit, and class won my respect.
