I'm spending Thanksgiving day by myself. My lady friend is coming over after she is done with her family stuff and we are jumping in the truck to drive down to southern Oregon to pick up my buddy who is getting out of jail at 7am Friday.
We're gonna come back here and have Thanksgiving dinner a day late with all the friends, since they all had plans Thanksgiving day anyways. I'm preparing a bacon explosion to get smoked as my entree. My friend's mother is providing the late turkey. I typically make a rum ham, but he's now on probation...
It's just like Thanksgiving, except with all the friends that you would much rather hang out with. |

I had to work late yesterday. I like being alone on these holidays, less stress.

Not really alone as wife and daughter at home. But I am working day shift, go home and sleep some then go back in for the over night shift and work Friday night shift. Good holiday pay though.

Family is all hours away. I have to work Friday, and all weekend--it's our busy season. I roast a turkey and make all the fixin's, have a nice meal and take a nap. I am truly thankful.

Not alone, deployed. Just ate, it was good. Would rather be home alone than here, but I'm here until mid Jan or early Feb. Also 2 of our Brit brothers got killed yesterday. Could be worse.

We never celebrated Thanksgiving on Thursday when I was married. It was always Saturday because it took extended family that long to get back to town.
So I didn't expect an invite to my old house by the ex today I'll be working a double shift later thanks to Black Friday mayhem. For now I have ribs in the oven and flipping through bad Turkey Day TV programming I doubt I'll be getting an invite for Saturday either |

3 years ago, my beautiful wife of many years passed away. Thanksgiving was always a big deal here as she loved, loved throwing a big spread for children and G/C. The first year at Thanksgiving-- I stayed home, not feeling sorry for myself-- I just didn't have the heart to go any where. My sis and daughter both begged me to come to their home,, but did not want to.....
I have now been ''dating'' a very attractive widow for several months and we will have a blow-out at her home today. She has 3 grandsons in the military and all are coming home for today-- she is thrilled. Yesterday she baked a fat hen and made some dressing for me to feed my ''family'' [ 2 labs ] a ''Thanksgiving'' dinner before heading over to her place. I will bring all the scraps home for them also--- nice Thanksgiving for this household. I will bring her also and we will catch a cruise ship out of New Orleans Saturday for a 5 day cruise--- life goes on. |

I am. Worked all last night. GF's still asleep and when she wakes up she's going to her family's. I've been trying to get ahold of my parents, but no word from them, hopefully they're ok. So just me, the dog (who likes me), and the idiot cats. At least I don't really have to cook on my only day off.

Definitely no family thanksgiving for me today. Dad went out of town to be with family, which is good. Mom didn't answer my calls, went over there and heard the dog barking, but nobody answered the door. Started to worry after 10 minutes, couldn't see any signs of life, so I tried to get the door open, at which point she looked out the window but didn't seem to recognize me. At least she's alive I guess. Maybe she just couldn't see me. She's pretty crazy, maybe legitimately crazy now. Hard to watch a parent lose their faculties like that.

I'm currently working in Newfoundland which does not celebrate American thanksgiving. It's just a normal week of work for me. Will be my first thanksgiving not spent with my family. No big deal though, I knew this when I took the job.

I found out late last night that my range was open this morning, so I went shooting first thing this morning. Went by Walmart on the way home to do some Christmas shopping, which included 600 rounds of 9mm for me.
I woke up at 5:30 this morning which was stupid for a holiday, and even more stupid since I don't get up that hour on a weekday! I did some online Christmas shopping and got some good deals. I'm now having some snacks and running the dishwasher before I start to make my apple crisp for today. |
