What happened 91 years ago?

Might be refering to WW-I and the League of Nations, the forerunner of the UN.

No,

I'm referring to the federal reserve act. The 16th amendment was also 1913, but income tax is a minor issue compared to central banking.

You got the year right, but missed the real culprit--the 17th mendment (direct election of Senators).  Before that state legislatures' power to appoint senators was the the only effective check against centralization of power.

Kerry will be the end of our country. Plain and simple.

Why anyone would cast a vote for that lying traitor is completely beyond me. But that could be said about most politicians. The only way we can "fix" things, is to be able to hold our politicians responsible for their actions and to have it, so they can not submit laws or changes that are contrary to the strict and clear language of the Constitution or Bill of Rights. Other than that, we are screwed.

We all need these bumper stickers on our cars. That oughta be a wake up call to the Kerry supporters who don't really know what it's about.

I think some of you guys need to seek mental help. Bad presidents come and go  every so many years. It’s just a fact of life. It’s happened before, and it will surely happen again. Nothing really changes either way. The sky is not going to fall; the UN is not going to march on Washington. My suggestion is to take a deep breath, and avoid internet discussion forums for twenty-four hours.

Keep in mind that these are mostly young males that still want to change and save the world.

John Kerry is not the end all of this nation... just another in a long line of socialists.

America WILL become a Euro-Socialist like nation.  Its only a matter of time.  We've been on that road since the birth of the progressive movement in the 1890s-1900s and we've been rocketing forward on it since Roosevelt.  During the 1980s Reagan slowed and even slightly reversed the trend, but not enough.

Truly, the problem is Americans attitudes about socialism, government interference, and the idea of a nanny state are changing.  The sad truth is most Americans WANT government interference to protect them.  This has in turn created an ever growing culture of dependancy.

The scariest part of the Eurosocialist ideal is the kinds of freedoms which get eroded as a result.
Just look at the EU.

No Freedom of Religion: Advocating any one Religion is bigoted and hateful and thus falls under hatespeech laws.
No Freedom of Speech: For obvious reasons. See the above.
No Freedom of Self Defense: Self evident basic human right? Not in Europe!
No Right to Bear Arms: Unless you're rich.  Peasants cannot be trusted.
No Property Ownership: You may pay taxes on it, but the government really owns all the land.

For God's sakes there is an actual clause in the charter of the EU that says any member citizens rights may legally be revoked for the good of the Union!

You know what the scariets part of that list is?  Some of its already coming to pass in various states and in varying degrees...

Yup!
This analysis is essentially correct.
The election of John Kerry isn't going to be the end of the United States or of it's "Constitutional government".  The House will still be in the hands of the Republican majority and it looks very much like the Senate will also remain in Republican hands.  There will be a lot of gridlock with the worst of the Kerry/Edwards Administration's proposals getting voted down.  The worst of Kerry's Supreme Court nominees will also be voted down.  BUT, the Liberal administration WILL set a very different agenda and the power of the White House will be used to completely reframe all debate.  There WILL be continued erosion of our civil rights with a very robust attack launched on our Second Amendment rights.  The "war on terror" will further degenerate into a "cops and robbers" style game (The Bush Administration's efforts have not been adequate - I'm not saying that's all his fault considering the total and criminal lack of any prior groundwork and intelligence preparation having been laid by the Clinton Administration).

The march toward socialism and the "nanny state"  seems to me to be a built in feature of all modern industrial societies.  As society becomes more urbanized it also becomes more complex (largely because industry based productivity keeps leveraging an ever higher, but more complicated to maintain, standard of living) and people actually do need more help in order to cope with "the system".  To this end they look to government to help them out.  It's inexorable and probably inevitable, unfortunately.

Oh, you are so wrong.
LBJ led to the debacle that was Viet Nam and 58,000 dead americans, caved to the Soviets, fully instituted the socialist nanny state, and presided over the complete breakdown of order, decency and the family unit. He was the worst president in this naiton's history and we are still paying for this man's treason just as we will for Clinton.
Carter. Oh yeah, he did great things for us. Gas shortage, weakened america, double digit inflation, spiraling interest rates that topped off around 22%, the Iranina hostage crisis in which america lost face around the world. 4 more years of him and we'd have been in a depression with the Soviets winning th cold war.

Don't try to make it sound as if it does not matter who is President. It matters a great deal and it does change things. The point though, is that our nation is still paying for what these 2 incompetent bastards did. And Carter still won't shut his big fucking mouth.

The bigger question is why have we allowed so much power to reside in the hands of one man that you're afraid if the majority choose the wrong one, of the two they're presented as choices, the republic will die?

It's not Kerry I'm afraid of, it's his supporters.  If he wins, I'll know the good guys are outnumbered.

As for escape, I'm putting my hope in the private sector space program at this point.  The moon or Mars is looking better and better.

(Only half kidding about leaving the planet -- because there really is no place else to go to escape the communist wolves and their flock of sheeple.)

hate to break it to you, but we've gone through some dividing elections before.

Nixon/Kennedy was one that comes to mind.

Which one where the winner got less than the political vote, was it Garfield?

We've been there, done that.

When it came to ideology, Nixon and Kennedy were very similar. Now we have a much wider ideological divide.

You are ignorant of US history and politics.  Just a quick example - ever hear of stacking the court?  As in, appointing Federal Judges?

Here is a snip of an article from 1999 concerning Clinton's "Legacy" and I don't mean a semen stain on a size 18 blue dress...

As Former Senate Majority Leader Bob Dole said in a 1996 speech, “the federal judges a President chooses may be his most profound legacy.” As 1999 opened, Mr. Clinton had appointed 301 judges to the federal district and appeals courts. This amounts to 40% of all federal judges in active service. If he serves out his second term, Mr. Clinton may well appoint more than half of the federal judges in America. Those judges will serve for an average of 15-20 years, leaving Mr. Clinton’s imprint on the nation long after he is out of office.

But we are careening for the brink as a Nation, I just don't think this election will do it.

If Kerry wins, and we don't demonstrate in the streets, then we are a bunch of loser girlymen who have earned the disgrace.

People tend to think that the times they are living in are the times of ultimate changes.  I usually see this more with the subject of the end of days, the apocalypse.   I tend to have more faith in the United States, that we will remain strong, and feel the country kind of swings from side to side, politically speaking.  I believe we are going through a swing right now.   You have to admit that conservative ideologies are making a comeback in many parts of the country and I believe this swing will gain support.
