Now because he has his new "rights" as a transgender, he begins getting estrogen treatments, growing breasts and becoming weaker. Not to mention, genuinely freaking out those around him, who have to bear witness to this general freak show.

How does that NOT degrade readiness?

Would you ask a man for his opinion and judgement during a life or death combat operation, if he has already demonstrated his capacity for sound judgement with the decision to have his penis sliced off?

The ENTIRE reason that males and females shower seperately IS sexual attraction and the problems that can arise from such.
So then lets just make co-ed shower and if soldiers arent being "professional enough about it", then we can just tell them they dont belong.
That way everyone can oogle everyone (so long as they are professional about it) and nobody feels excluded.

This is all part of a greater plan. In the mid-90's the government socialists marked all conservatives as enemies of the state, made examples out of hunting them down, even so far as to kill American women and children along with broadcasting those examples over national television. The problem at the time was that the military was still very conservative and despite the efforts of the socialist elite to paint the right otherwise, the left was still limited without military support. However now they are breaking down the military, removing retirement benefits to retire the old "stuck in their ways" soldiers while allowing homo-sexuals and socialists to start filling the ranks. In addition the left is militantly stamping out open expression of religion across all portions of society in order to suppress moral objectivity. Within twenty or thirty years the military brass will be so conditioned that they will have no qualms to support a government that would strip away the Constitution while aiding those in power to round up the last dissenters of the socialist regime.

Nobody is MORALLY equating them but you cant selectvely apply the "I was born that way" to groups you deem acceptable. Nobody is saying "hey, they should be allowed to do as they please"- but you cant go cherry picking which "born that way" behavior that you want to accept. The slippery slope is that if you do accept it as "born that way" then you have to have the "is it natural or a flaw" debate. If found to be "natural" then they become a protected class. Nobody is MORALLY equating them but you cant selectvely apply the "I was born that way" to groups you deem acceptable. Nobody is saying "hey, they should be allowed to do as they please"- but you cant go cherry picking which "born that way" behavior that you want to accept. The slippery slope is that if you do accept it as "born that way" then you have to have the "is it natural or a flaw" debate. If found to be "natural" then they become a protected class. No, not free to act on their instincts- but certainly under the umbrella of anti-discrimination and hate crime laws.

The only difference between that and homosexuality is the "child" issue. Otherwise, homosexuality has taken the same slope. It went from something that was morally and legally punishable, to "I was born that way" to "its natural" to "im now a protected class". Because it is between consenting adults homosexuals are allowed to act on their instincts because of changes in law- and fall under the unmrella of anti-discrimination and hate crime laws.

If you cant see the blueprints I cant help you. I can promise you that homosexual behavior was at one point held up to be just as henious as having sex with an underage child. The only difference is that the laws have changed due to social pressure and this- the practice is allowed. All that is required is a shift in public opinion and law- and its happend many times. And thats the only thing seperating the two isues currently.

What does being born mentally ill have to do with having the desire to screw somebody of the same sex? Who made the argument that they deserve the right to serve because they were "born that way?" I thought they deserved the chance to serve because their preference for which gender and consenting adults to sex up was nobody's damn business. The mentally ill do not have the right to serve nor do pedophiles, who are ALSO mentally ill.

This reminds me of the liberal morons arguing about what guns are sporting and for hunting. The Second Amendment doesn't say a damn thing about sporting or hunting.

If the "born that way" argument was what they are using to get DADT repealed, they are using the wrong argument. They are consenting adults and it's nobody's business what they do in a bedroom. That should have been their point, and it IS a valid one.

How does that NOT degrade readiness?

Would you ask a man for his opinion and judgement during a life or death combat operation, if he has already demonstrated his capacity for sound judgement with the decision to have his penis sliced off?

You are old enough to remember those are EXACTLY the arguements advanced to keep the old system before DADT of keeping gays out of the military. As usual, it boiled down to 95% of the population having to accept the old way was hopelessly bigoted, and they were standing in the way of 1% of the population who wanted to break down barriers.

The basic problem is defining a deviancy is a ultimately a political question.

If a group of activist shrinks redefine a deviancy as not a deviancy, the rest of us have to adapt. I understand the rewrite of the DSM4 removes an extreme narcissistic personality disorder as a diagnosis. I wonder why?

Pure conjecture.

Of course it is. Because at this point such things are banned, as a result of the common sense analysis (or pure conjecture, as you like to call it) of how these things would affect readiness.

What part of the scenario that I described would NOT be applicable, were there no restrictions on transgenders serving?
Try to avoid conjecture.

In such a case, that person would have to be reclassed. It would depend on the given situation if it should be a punishable action(how long it was since the original qualification, a recent qualification or recruit should have never take a male-only position if he truly believed himself to be female).

If this individual is unfit to be a service-member due to feminizing then it would stand to reason that a real female is unfit for service as well.

Your stance is based on your emotional reaction to transgendered or in this case, transexual people. Not all transgendered people are transexual(throwing out the mutilization arguement) and it could be argued that flamboyant homosexuals are indeed transgendered due to their adoption of feminine mannerisms and roles.

I for one do not condone(neither do I condemn) such behavior since it doesn't impact nor harm me. However, if homosexuals can behave in an open manner on-duty, then it's unfair and discriminatory to not allow the transgendered to do the same.

And yes, I do hold a more conservative view of the issue and hold that DADT was the fairest policy to protect both homosexual and heterosexual SMs and to foster better unit cohesion and readiness. DADT would necessarily prevent transgendered people from serving for the most part.
