BUT by the above description, the location is ( or WAS ) SIXTY MILES INLAND. Either Atlantis was an island or it wasn't. Since Plato is the sole source of information and HE said it was an island.....then it couldn't be Atlantis. Isn't there a chance that an island from a few thousand years ago is now 60mi inland? Sure. Look at the geography of the area. Its a low-lying swampy area now; could have been a shallow sea in antiquity. Or that area could have been an island IN a river.... Look at the topo features there and it's entirely possible. |

The term island does not necessarily mean a land mass in a sea, at least not in English, and possibly other languages. I think it can also be used as a place of refuge - an island of civilization (in the desert, in the wilderness, or from Babylon 5 (or Bradbury) - in space).

I don't find it unlikely at all that there is a city buried there, but I really doubt that it's Atlantis. Who knows though - maybe it is.
It's almost guaranteed that there are cities buried under the seafloor right off of the coasts & toward the inland of many countries. The face of the earth is a dynamic shifting thing. If you need obvious evidence for this go ahead and look at what has recently happened in Japan. Scale things back 3 thousand years and imagine no warning systems - and a population completely surprised by a massive earthquake and resulting tidal wave. The few survivors see the leftovers and go somewhere else to start over. |

Troy was once a myth as well............as was the Trojan War, but it was found and was discovered to have been destroyed not once, but at least eight different times........
Personally, I think there is an Atlantis, but not a haven for UFOs and extraterrestrials..........a real city inhabited by real people that was destroyed by a natural disaster........and I dont think it was in Spain, but farther to the West out in the ocean somewhere "beyond the Pillars of Heracles" Solon also spoke of hearing about Atlantis during travels to Egypt Quoted:

GOOGLE:
Edgar Cayce (1877-1945) was highly successful at giving medical diagnoses while in a trance state. He also provided information – mostly unverifiable – on the past lives of his subjects and made prophecies for the future.
He asserted that the earth had undergone many cataclysmic shiftings of its poles – by which he appears to have meant some form of crust displacement rather than a change in the inclination of the axis. He suggested that another poleshift would occur at the end of the 20th century. It would be preceded by several decades of increasingly severe seismic disturbances, including the submergence of most of Japan, much of Northern Europe, and many parts of the Atlantic and western coasts of the US, and the emergence of new land in the Atlantic and Pacific oceans. And it would be followed by the reappearance of Christ! Cayce stated that 10.5 million years ago the present polar regions 'turned to where they occupied more of the tropical and semi-tropical regions'. Many earth changes, extending over a period of 200,000 years, are said to have occurred during the Atlantean culture, including a displacement of the spin axis. A 'changing of the poles' around 50,772 BC is said to have led to the destruction of the giant animals that had allegedly overrun the earth. Ruth Montgomery asserted that the last shift of the axis occurred around 48,000 BC, when Lemuria was submerged. Atlantis was relatively unaffected and continued as the world's foremost civilization for another 20,000 years, before being destroyed by a technological disaster. She forecast another poleshift for [term of a President after Obama- ca 2013-2016].
According to legend, the island continent of Atlantis was something like an America of the antediluvian world. It possessed the most advanced technology and political system of its time. Its leaders believed they should dominate the world according to an Atlantean version of "a new world order." They played antediluvian global cop and were often guilty of pushing their views on others –– of course with all good intentions.
Atlantis, like modern America, made great strides in industry and armaments. It used more energy and made more pollution per capita than any other culture. They had a very high crime rate too, according to Cayce and Ruth Montgomery's and George Gurdjieff's spiritual sources. At the pinnacle of their power and influence, the Atlanteans reached a crossroads in their evolution, where spiritual maturity had to catch up with their technological strides. The Atlanteans did not heed the warning signs. Just as they were riding high, full of their own victories against "evil forces" in their time, legend says an ecological disaster caused by an experiment with their technology and weapons wiped them off the face of the earth. They accidentally cracked the Earth's crust, and their continent dropped beneath the seas in one terrible night. The failure of the Atlantean version of SDI sent tidal waves around the world, destroying the civilization prior to our own in a great flood. |

COC PREVENTS POSTING ENTIRE EXCHANGE
Speed So he was a wizard like harry potter then, because he had magic powers... Did you know that the word "gullible" isn't in the dictionary? This is what we call trolling. Trying to elicit a negative response. No, what's "trying to elicit a negative response" is posting about some bullshit fruitcake hustling wizard "prophet." What next, threads about "my neighbor cast a magic spell on me?" "I can move things with my mind!" you going to troll those threads too? if you don't like the subject matter and have nothing to add to the discussion you have the freedom to go the fuck away and troll someone else. Do you believe that you have some god given right for people to tiptoe on eggshells for your benefit whenever you post ludicrous whacked-out bullshit? NO, but the code of conduct prohibits you from fucking bothering the hell out of other posters. Why don't you grow up and step out? |
