My phone has been ringing off the hook for the last 30 minutes. I don't know the number and they're not leaving voicemail, so no answer.
Finally they leave a voicemail and they identify themself as ATF needing to do a inspection of my 03 FFL. In the voicemail, she says she's been out to my place several times and I've not answered the door (buzzer is disconnected and people I invite over know that.) I got outside to see a black toyota driving off and an ATF card in my mailbox. WTF, I thought the ATF had to MAIL you a letter telling you they want to inspect you. This knocking on my door and blowing up my phone while I'm taking a nap is pissing me off! |

Watch yur cornhole and dibs on your guns, the one the BAFTE doesn't take anyway.

A lot of these threads recently. Tag for AAR. I agree. It seems like the "random" inspections are occurring in much greater frequency. The fact that she showed up at my house, blew up my phone, and left her card in my mailbox is really pissing me off. I can't even call her back right now because I know I can't be polite. |

How often are folks with a C&R payed a visit from the ATF? Recently, a lot. |

I think the last thread said the female ATF Officer was a rather attractive lady.
Get a shower, put on your Old Spice and pitch some woo. |

So call her back. Tell her that you do not take phone calls from unlisted numbers and don't do business with folks with unlisted numbers.
Now that she has left a message and a card, you will be happy to allow the inspection. Get your books and inventory in order. We just went through this ourselves. Where in TX are you? I'm in Houston and they have been stepping up the random inspections. |

This is a disturbing trend. I suspect it is both a change at ATF (a friend here just recently got his 03FFL and ATF wanted to have a sit down with him before approving him) and the result of so many 03FFLs. I guess the years of us 03FFLs cursing along in obscurity is over. |

I have been through this 3 times, my FFL is Pawnbroker. Everytime they came I was closed. They called several days later and set up an appointment.
Blow them off (I have to go pick up my daughter from school, She also has a basketball game after that) when they show up unanounced, get your shit together, meet the appointment, and all will be fine! |
|
WTF is up with all the C&R inspections lately? Something coming down the pike? Better get the tinfoil ready.

I once had a gun shop tell me they had random inspections at any time and they ALWAYS had to have their shit 100% in order. I wanted to pick up a rifle the morning of day 10 of the wait(kookifornia) cause I was going out of town and the 24 hour period was over for day 10 at noon. They wouldn't do it saying that if ATF came in that morning at 11 and my rifle wasn't there to match the paperwork they could get in trouble.

Rember if you come accross with a shi**y attitude towards the Agent then they might come back again later...say around 2am and not be so nice to you or your dog... |

Her ebonics was distracting but I did translate enough to find out hat she has been AT MY HOUSE SEVERAL TIMES and I failed to answer for her. She inquired about the number of sidearms (her word) I have on my log and tried to find out my work hours. Don't ATF confiscators inspectors have at least bachelor's degrees? I find it hard to imagine someone with her lack of English skills obtaining one of those. Quoted:

This is not strange. ATF can come unannounced to inspect your bound book.

Call her superior and tell them this idiot is breaking federal law. You can't use the mailbox for anything other than mail. Put an entry into her log book of f'd up things she has done and maybe just maybe they will let her go pursue a new career in burger flippin'. |

This is the first I've heard of increased random inspections.
Are they limited to specific geographic areas? I'm wondering if certain ATF field offices have new bosses that are trying to look like real go-getters. |

Yeah......thinking I'm going to cancel plans to get my C&R now....

Now that "Their" candidate in in power thier tactics are going to get more aggressive and abusive. Surprise visits are going to become SOP I suspect.

Report it to the ATF ombudsman , 03 FFL's do not have business hours, and they cannot show up unannounced for an inspection. Someone in the local field office has you confused for an 01 FFL .
Back when there was a C&R mailing list, several people there reported issues to the Ombudsmen and they were treated respectfully, and the issue was resolved. |

next time they are knocking at your door, PLEASE YELL
GO AWAY, I'M BAITIN' |

Please make sure when they do show up for inspection that you have "These Boots Are Made For Walkin'" playing full-blast on your stereo.
