this is flat out wrong. she owns her "likeness", and that likeness cannot be exhibited or used for personal gain without her consent. however, the photographer owns the "image" itself, unless he has released it. since his image contains her likeness, he cannot display it to others without her consent, but she has absolutely no control over his ownership/posession of the image. <=== 8 years as a pro. trust me. |

That ^^^ said, I would keep the pictures in a very secure place and tell everyone, including her and us, that you deleted them. Enjoy the good memories but cut her loose if you are not serious about her and she may go bunny boiling psycho on you. |

You'd commit an action that you'd feel compelled to lie about rather than own up to? Having a few pics of someone you used to sleep with spreading her legs is worth defining yourself as a liar for? I have two very different jobs, but both of them require a pretty well defined sense of character. I'm not sure what it would take to really tempt me to surrender mine, but I know it's be more than a couple of amatuer pussy shots. Hell, if you'd lie as a matter of convinence like that, why not steal the rolex off the dead patient and lie about it's being there in the first place? Fuck up a drug dosage? Just lie about it on the run report I guess. In one of my jobs, I'm lied to constantly. I'm astounded at how cheaply some folk will surrender their morals and ethics, how weak such traits are in some. It still amazes me each time I catch a Claimant out in a lie, and thay don't seem the least bit abashed or emberrased. Then they actually expect me to believe subsequent statements! --“The measure of a man's character is what he would do if he knew he never would be found out.” — Baron Thomas Babington Macauley, English historian and statesman (1800-1859--) |

Stop wasting so much time and energy and thought on something you don't care about.

You young guys are so lucky. I wish we had digicams when I was a young guy in the 70's and 80's. On the other hand, maybe it's a good thing we didn't.
Tell her to fuck off, you own the pics, and you can keep them if you want.
You have no reason to delete them if you don't want to.... I've got a 6" stack of photos of one of my exes, if she ever demanded them back, I'd tell her to fuck off.... |
How is deleting them, and giving in to some bitches (her in particular, not to be construed as any kind of slander against all women!) demands? This chick poses for said pics willingly, now that she is in dumpsville by this guy, she wants them to disappear? Screw her...keep 'em, and tell her you're keeping 'em.... |
Good grief.
Calling this a "moral dilema" is a little over the top. It is just a simple decision with no real consequences for you. |
Read the above, and live by it. Otherwise you could find yourself in some serious legal trouble. Delete them. Are you planning to use this girl's pictures for fantasy material? To make some future woman jealous? They're not cherished keepsake memories of a dead grandmother. They're sexy pictures of a woman you no longer intend to see. D delete them and move on, as you'd want her to do for you. Or as you'd want you next girlfriend's ex with pictures to have done for her. |

I am not going to lie, I was just here looking for some pics.

Oooooh, you ARE evil! |
Aaaahhhh...that's better... |
Exactly! And the ratives are nestless because of it. Choo it for the dildren! |
Keep them and when you run into her future husband you can ask him, "Do you have any naked pictures of your wife?" When he says no......well you know the rest.
just delete them, your buddies that will someday see the pics will think she's ugly and crack on you for keeping them. I knwo I cracked on my buddy that had naked pics of his ex.
She'll always wonder if you really deleted them. Invite her over, delete them in her presence.
Tell her she may leave now, you and she are finished. Move on. |
Give/trade all the pics to her (or delete them in her presence) in exchange for the sort of sex you really want from her. PHITPAPP...minus the pics!
Pie is a gift from God. One does not refuse a gift from God. CJ |

I actually deleted pics of my ex of 4 years. Now her new boyfriend and their friend are threatening me, they are all talk and no walk, but I'm actually stupid and deleted the pics. Otherwise, I'd distribute them just to piss them off.
Save them just in case you need them! Insurance! |
I would have deleted them, even without being asked to.
Common courtesy. |

[qoute] this is flat out wrong. she owns her "likeness", and that likeness cannot be exhibited or used for personal gain without her consent. however, the photographer owns the "image" itself, unless he has released it. since his image contains her likeness, he cannot display it to others without her consent, but she has absolutely no control over his ownership/posession of the image. <=== 8 years as a pro. trust me. [/qoute] Close, but not exactly. Yes she owns her likeness, but you can show them to whomever you please. You own the images. They cannot be used for "Commercial use". Commercial use specifically involves implication of endorsement of a product or server. Editorial use is fine. You could make a page about your relationship, post the pics, and still be in the legal right. Morally, of course, this is dispicable, but w/e. I'm also a pro, though not for as long as the previous poster. I've been pro for 3 years, and a serious amateur for 5. For more advice regarding copyrights, check out the pro forum at www.dpreview.com. My advice... Delete them, or leave them on the CD and look at them when you want, but be VERY careful not to distribute them, even accidentally |
If you really want to show her you do not wish to have anything to do with her you will tell her you deleted all pics and you will be telling the truth.
Keeping trophy pics and not telling the truth allows her to still remain in your thoughts. |
Delete the pics.
Unless you are using them as monkey spank fuel..... |
Dont know why, that one made me bust out laughing. Probably because it sounds the most plausible. |
Having dealt in passing with issues of the rights of the photographed . . . they are hers unless you have a signed model release. This means that you can posess them, but not distribute them without her consent. You don't have to erase them . . . but you cannot share them, either. |
As long as she doesn't burn down
you are the copyright holder - you snapped the pic you own it (however sometimes privacy laws require a release....BUT you could always use it in your portfolio, right?)
PIPandPostPics. More seriously, don't publish the pics and embarass her.
They are on a CD now right? Thennnnnnn..... you already have deleted them.
+1 Time to grow up dude. Petty shit liek this is a waste of time and energy. Despite what she did, and that it appears it hurt your feelings, it's pretty lame of you to keep the pictures and hold them over her head. |
Sorry bud, I actually consider this one of the dumbest questions I ever saw posted.
Publishing said pictures in any form without written consent opens you up for civil liablity. Keeping the pictures opens you up for a major hard time with any future relationships even possibly losing someone worth keeping. Tell your little head to STFU and delete the pictures already. Collect porn, its safer if you have to. Tj |
Your poll is charming, considering there are "womankind" here that AREN'T freaking pyschos. |
Seeing as how my wife was the one who officially gave him back his man card (he still has the card in his cubicle at work) I must defer to her judgement on this one. She said, and I quote, "Keep the pics, stop talking to the girl, and continue to live well." |
It's like a ring; you dump her, she keeps the ring. She dumps you, she gives it back.
She dumps you for the ex; you keep and then post the pictures to somewhere had you dumped her; you'd have to delete them. Or if she's like a lot of girls I know, burn a copy of them to a CD and give it to her and tell her "that's the only copy, I destroyed the negatives of the rest" and she'll be fine with that. |
<shaking head>
this is why it's always such a bad idea to pose for photos for a guy you're not married to... and even then. Still a bad idea. that's why porn exists. So real women don't have to pose for crap photos. |
It is the only way my brother!!! |

It is the only way my brother!!! |

Hey now! Who asked for the voice of reason?! |
Daisywench I meant nothing about the ladies of Arfcom, some women are held to a higher standard than this chick. She is only getting what she asked for. Most Arfcom woman are much much classier and are definitly alot smarter than this broad. |

I've kept all of my naked ex's photos.
My wife doesn't even care. My wife even let me take nudes of her, but she also knows I've not done anything to cause trouble with the ones from my past. No reason for anyone to know about them, unless you need to use them for leverage. Tell her you deleted them to give her peace of mind. Or offer to let her delete them after she does something for you. (fill in the blank) I guess I've always thought that you NEVER destroy photos. Ever. Once a photo is gone, a piece of history is lost forever. |
