Indeed, the Third Degree in the Blue Lodge is the stone upon which all other Masonic Orders and Degrees are based.
Without it, the entire ediface of Masonry would fall.
At least in the United States.
But.
Brother ultramagbrion, you can change the condition in your Lodge almost single-handedly, IF you wish!
I've only been in Masonry only since September of last year, and already I have brought two new members into the Plano Lodge. I volunteer to assist the Senior and Junior Stewards with their work and this year, it appears that I will be Chaplain in one Lodge and Junior Steward in my own Lodge.
It's either this or continuing to chase 24 year old beauties....and I'm getting too old for that!
Well, not really, but I can assure you that being a Mason has altered my priorities!
