-TAPS-

Day is done
Gone the sun
From the lakes
From the hills
From the sky.
All is well,
Safely rest.
God is nigh.

Fading light
Dims the sight
And a star
Gems the sky,
Gleaming bright
From afar,
Drawing nigh,
Falls the night.

Thanks and praise,
For our days,
Neath the sun,
Neath the stars,
As we go,
This we know,
God is nigh.

Thank you Sir..Rest in Peace

It's too late for me to thank him in person, but I appreciate his sacrifice in WWII to ensure my freedom today.

Even though I never met your father, I know he still is a good man. Born and raised in an era when honor and pride were enough to help you survive the toughest of times.

Truly the world is less of a better place with his passing.

My thanks, thoughts, and prayers are out there  for your family.

I’m sure your dad is in Heaven now with his shipmates, where the sea state is always one, and the sharp cerulean sky is filled with brilliantly puffy clouds that reflect off a midnight blue sea.

Bright, sunny days are always followed by beautiful cool nights where the sky is filled with billions of stars, comets and planets…more of God’s wonders to put the mind of man in awe of Him.

Each day the temperature is mild and the winds light.  Every afternoon a light rainsquall comes over and rinses off the salt spray.

Startled flying fish leap out of the waves as they flee your onrushing hull, seemingly defying gravity as they glide away.

Porpoises leap and play in the bow wave and whales spout in the distance.

An albatross appears from nowhere…and effortlessly soars around your ship like a guardian angel.

The ship glides softly with the gentlest of rolls in the perfect swell.

The sublimely perfect day at sea…forever.

I am truly sorry to hear of your loss.  [:(]

All the best…

Quoted:
Eternal Father, strong to save,
Whose arm hath bound the restless wave,
Who bidd'st the mighty ocean deep
Its own appointed limits keep;
Oh, hear us when we cry to Thee,
For those in peril on the sea!

O Christ! Whose voice the waters heard
And hushed their raging at Thy word,
Who walked'st on the foaming deep,
And calm amidst its rage didst sleep;
Oh, hear us when we cry to Thee,
For those in peril on the sea!

Most Holy Spirit! Who didst brood
Upon the chaos dark and rude,
And bid its angry tumult cease,
And give, for wild confusion, peace;
Oh, hear us when we cry to Thee,
For those in peril on the sea!

O Trinity of love and power!
Our brethren shield in danger's hour;
From rock and tempest, fire and foe,
Protect them wheresoe'er they go;
Thus evermore shall rise to Thee
Glad hymns of praise from land and sea.

I know that I stand on a better world because men like your father lived.

My only wish for you and yours is the Peace for which he fought.
