I've heard from a reliable source that the rifle MIGHT be coming from B&J Shooting Supply. It'd be awesome for them to come up with something for the auction!
I also think it'll be an unlimited number of tickets sold at $10 each. This is a fundraiser! |

I just found out what it is from THE source.
This is going to be pretty damn good. |

liberty, there are a lot of kids who could use a Christmas gift who will otherwise have none... Remember your first shiny new bike and how great you felt. How could you deny that feeling to anyone? IIRC, for around $60 Helldog can get the kids a bike and a safety helmet. For $1500 they can muy 25 bikes and helmets... Not too bad. You could spend $20 on a pizza and a movie, or you can take the chance to win a cool rifle and know you played a role in making some kid's life so much better. The smile alone is worth a $20.

Just let me know who to send to money to,I was slow on the first one and a 2nd chance is aways a good thing[:D]

Let's keep this thread positive folks, I would hate for this to become a flame war and I'm really in the X-mas spirit right now.

If I want to contribute to charity, I just give the $$, or volunteer time, with no expectations. If better than double the money was good enough for the first raffle, what's changed that?? |

Who said there would be unlimited tickets? Did Helldog say unlimited tickets? I believe no details are finalized yet. Let's all just be patient.

Most of us do not live in New York, and give to local groups for the kids and those in limited circumstances. I bought tickets in the last raffle for TWO reasons. One, I had a reasonable chance of winning because of the # of tickets available. Two, to help get a kid a bike. Keep in mind, that kid is in New York, I'm in Oregon. We have needy kids here too. If it was my SOLE motivation to help a kid, I would, (and do), do it locally. I ain't tryin' to start some shit here. Keep in mind, many of us Don't have a lot of money, (I live on V.A. disability), so for us to help a kid far away is not a big priority when there's kids in our own towns going without. My point is, if you guys wanna sell a lot of tickets, you may want have a reasonable chance for someone to win. Be advised also, that I never gamble, OR by lottery tickets. I can't afford it!! Charity IS different. Thanks..... |

Liberty, stop being such a grab-assin little girl. Don't cry about a charity that is being designed to make money for kids Christmas gifts. The way you're acting is confusing me, I didn't think liberals could be charity Scrooges. Also keep in mind that I'm not the one running it, if I was mistaken, then I was mistaken.
When I looked at this, all I thought was that the gun was secondary to the raffle, then again, I might be less whiney. That's the last I'll post on this here. IM me if you'd like to chat. I'm not hijacking [b]this[/b] thread. |

Alright guys, let's everybody take a deep breath and wait to hear from Helldog, only he knows all the details.
I seriously doubt that an unlimited number of tickets will be sold. I'm guessing more than last time and I'm hoping a lower price per ticket than last time. Not everybody can spare an extra $20 this time of year. I'm hoping its something that everyone can afford, say $10. But, since the price is lower there is likely to be a corresponding increase in the number of tickets. Of course if the tickets cost half as much one is always free to buy twice as many and increase their odds. I'll be honest, whenever I buy one of these tickets I give up hope of winning, because I never do. I look at it as a donation to a cause I believe in. I also agree that this is helping NY kids and Helldog is asking for support from across the nation and I think it is awesome that folks are willing to help out from all corners. Did you know this started in Colorado when his wife lived out there and they did like 10 bikes the first year. Now they are doing hundreds! Maybe this can become an official ARFCOM charity event with members doing it in every state and future raffles being divided up across those groups to help kids in every state. This is a growth process and Mark and Laurie should be damned proud of what they have done and if there is anything we can do to help we should. Once again, let's all keep as patient as we can and know that details will come from Helldog soon. Aren't those guys at DPMS awesome for domating the last rifle? |
|
Instead of getting tickets, I'll purchase something for the cause. DonR give me a ring we'll talk. (Im back in TX!)

Just an idea to kick around for next year...how about donating equipment that can be auctioned off and all proceeds go to the charity?

It can be done only one way at this point. The items can be listed by the owner, maybe on a special spot on the EE which will be paid directly to Helldog40. I don't know if reimbursements for shipping costs are a concern, but I'm sure two payments could be made by the buyer: one for the item -> paid to Helldog
payment two is for shipping -> paid directly to seller. GOATBOY, how about setting up a temorary spot on EE for these types of transactions? |

Okay? Do I have your attention? Okay then...[:D] I appreciate the enthusiasm shown for the raffle fellas, it's always a pleasure to hear the positive remarks from people who contribute to us. The whole thing seems to start affecting people around "it"....the clerks in the stores get jazzed up, they start actually rushing to help me when I walk in..they smile as they load my truck...little things like that. Other customers ask what the heck is going on with all the boxes. After a quick synopsis, they get a big smile...often throwing me a five or a ten with a "God bless you". It's just a real pleasure for me to do this, and everyone that helps seems to feel good too...not to mention ther kids who actually get the bikes.[:)] That having been said, let me be clear on this: I am the [red]only[/red] source of information for this particular organization and it's efforts on Arfcom. If you don't hear it from me, Goatboy, EdSr, DonR, Wave or other Staff, then it's just scuttlebutt, so don't get all worked up about it. We are altering the PayPal set-up so it will have a dedicated account just for the raffle(s), with an email address tied to the organization instead of us personally. We are in a learning curve here, so please bear with us as we grow and change. The Raffle should be ready to commence in no more than 24 hours from NOW at the latest. Watch for a new announcement and details. Since HiramRanger was instrumental in getting us the object in question, I will be letting HIM make the announcement. Thanks you for your continued support. Oh, and just one more thing fellas...if anybody wants to argue, please take it elsewhere, okay? If you want to start a thread about "Helldog is a Thank you. |

If it is not announced before work tonight, it will go out tomorrow early am. Here's a few teasers: It's REAL nice and SMOOTH. I got word from a few people that the consensus was that we should have sold a few more tickets last time. Also, the price was a bit steeper than some folks liked. (hey, for those more fortunate, you can always buy multiples). So there will be [red]100[/red] tickets this time, but they will only cost [red]$10[/red] each. And NO, there will NOT be a "quantity discount" for you guys that want to "increase your odds".
