I've heard from a reliable source that the rifle MIGHT be coming from B&J Shooting Supply.  It'd be awesome for them to come up with something for the auction!

I also think it'll be an unlimited number of tickets sold at $10 each.  This is a fundraiser!

Seems to me, the last one was 75 tickets for $20/ ticket, thats $1500 for a rifle that wholesales for well under $750.
Are the kids getting greedy???
Or are we buying them Harleys.......

I hope you're kidding, because it wasn't all that funny.  This is the time of giving, personally, I don't care if they make $10,000 from a Ruger 10/22, what matters is this is for charity, not someone's pockets.  And yes, there are more than 2 kids that need toys.

liberty, there are a lot of kids who could use a Christmas gift who will otherwise have none...  Remember your first shiny new bike and how great you felt.  How could you deny that feeling to anyone?  IIRC, for around $60 Helldog can get the kids a bike and a safety helmet.  For $1500 they can muy 25 bikes and helmets...  Not too bad.  You could spend $20 on a pizza and a movie, or you can take the chance to win a cool rifle and know you played a role in making some kid's life so much better.  The smile alone is worth a $20.

I agree, and I'm not crying about the price, or where it's going. What I AM crying about is balzac's mention of "unlimited" tickets. If I DON'T want to win something, I'll play lotto. If I want to contribute to charity, I just give the $$, or volunteer time, with no expectations. If better than double the money was good enough for the first raffle, what's changed that??

Hiram, that's what I was responding to. Most of us do not live in New York, and give to local groups for the kids and those in limited circumstances. I bought tickets in the last raffle for TWO reasons. One, I had a reasonable chance of winning because of the # of tickets available. Two, to help get a kid a bike. Keep in mind, that kid is in New York, I'm in Oregon. We have needy kids here too. If it was my SOLE motivation to help a kid, I would, (and do), do it locally. I ain't tryin' to start some shit here. Keep in mind, many of us Don't have a lot of money, (I live on V.A. disability), so for us to help a kid far away is not a big priority when there's kids in our own towns going without. My point is, if you guys wanna sell a lot of tickets, you may want have a reasonable chance for someone to win.
Be advised also, that I never gamble, OR by lottery tickets. I can't afford it!!
Charity IS different.
Thanks.....

Liberty, stop being such a grab-assin little girl.  Don't cry about a charity that is being designed to make money for kids Christmas gifts.  The way you're acting is confusing me, I didn't think liberals could be charity Scrooges.  Also keep in mind that I'm not the one running it, if I was mistaken, then I was mistaken.

When I looked at this, all I thought was that the gun was secondary to the raffle, then again, I might be less whiney.  That's the last I'll post on this here.  IM me if you'd like to chat.  I'm not hijacking this thread.

Just an idea to kick around for next year...how about donating equipment that can be auctioned off and all proceeds go to the charity?

It can be done only one way at this point.  The items can be listed by the owner, maybe on a special spot on the EE which will be paid directly to Helldog40.  I don't know if reimbursements for shipping costs are a concern, but I'm sure two payments could be made by the buyer: one for the item -> paid to Helldog
payment two is for shipping -> paid directly to seller.

GOATBOY, how about setting up a temorary spot on EE for these types of transactions?

I have already told all the cops  a the trucks and most of the guys on my job about this!

[blue]Think of this as our own version of the anti's "Guns For Toys" program....except we're putting more firearms in citizens' hands instead of less.[/blue]

Ya gotta love the irony in that!
