Then there is a gunsmith special Remington Model 742 in .30-06. This old beater I have fired. I bought it as you see it from a gentleman, but unknown to me it had a bulged barrel. I took it to the range to zero it, but couldn't ever get it on paper. Later on I discovered the bulged barrel. I planned on cutting it down to 16", but I will leave that up to a future owner. Other than that, it is missing its dust cover. The wood is acceptable, the bluing is worn thin, but it functions. That being said, don't shoot this one until the barrel gets replaced or cut down to a legal length by a gunsmith. This one is sold as-is. The cheapo scope and Walmart rings come with it.
