Paypal goods and services is not foolproof, but it's the only way you have any recourse if you get scammed. I have been refunded through PP for gun parts, and I did a chargeback once when they didn't come through, and I still have the same PP account.
I'm personally wouldn't facetime a guy with a few months on the forum and zero feedback. Risk reward.
OP, here's the bottom line, if you don't feel comfortable with it, don't do it. There's always another good deal around the corner, and sometimes paying full price from a reputable dealer is cheap insurance. That said, I rarely ever buy anywhere but here, and I've both bought and sold what I consider to be high dollar deals.
