I purchased the rifle in the spring of 2007 and it was purchased at the gun show there in Northern VA. I've probably shot 100-150 rounds through the rifle over the past 15 years. I was a young, single man when I purchased the rifle and was very much into military history, myself having been a Marine for 8 years. The sling and bayonet with scabbard are also original pieces, not reproductions. As you are aware, this is not a parts matching firearm, but that is not where it's significancne lies, but moreover, the fact that it is a legitimate Russian capture. I photographed the rifle as best I could to show all of the proof marks and there are some legitimate matching parts. The throat looks relatively good and the rifling about the same. The rifle is incredibly accurate with the irons and I always enjoyed running 10-15 rounds through it every now and again. It kicks like a mule and it has quite the report to match. When firing it, I always was reminded of how much louder war was back in WWII, as opposed to the conflicts of today (I was in Somalia in 1994 and while loud, nothing quite like this).
