The UNV 20IR is the strongest LED infrared illuminator on the market. The 20IR features an 850nm beam of intense infrared light through a focusable aspheric head and a dimmable 1050mw power level. The 20IR's 850nm light source is designed for Gen 2, Gen 3 and CMOS/CCD digital night vision devices to supply more light for a longer useable night vision device range and better image clarity.

Compatibility - The UNV 20-IR is compatible with Generation 2, Generation 3, and Digital night vision devices.

It is smaller than it looks. Like a G2 with a larger head. You will need the rechargeable batteries and wall charger but with the ability to change focal beams and strength of the output it has more options that one would expect. Clicky tail cap functions great. Hard to tell if its on unless you looking though a nv device.

If you need long range, this is the one. Watched a video online and the UNV 20-IR looked like it did a much better job in comparison to the rest and after using it a while,I can say I get the same results. You can adjust the focus, so you can use it up close too, but that's not what I bought it for. I bought a 6x monocular and I can see in total darkness a very, very long way. Sometimes I take the cheap way and have regrets, but I'm glad I spent a little more and got the best. Tyler is very helpful and can answer any questions you have.

I just purchased a UNV 20IR after doing a lot of homework checking out other makes. First, when I called to request more info, all my questions were answered promptly and accurately...second, after ordering, I received my package in just 4 days... This illuminator works perfectly , as advertised, and I urge anyone who is not happy with the performance of their night vision equipment to try one of these before spending a small fortune on different goggles/sights/monocled etc... It would not be inaccurate to say that the UNV20IR makes the difference of night and day, literally !!!! Since writing this review, and just before posting it, I noticed that the head of the torch was noticeably loose halfway between max and min focus. I called UNV and they immediately sent me a new replacement, no hassles, no postage .....that's what I call GREAT service
