I like shooting but I'm a working stiff, so on my free time I'd shoot on public land and at boxes.
Last year I decided to build a target stand out of old 2x4's and plywood to do pistol practice.
My goal was to make a freestanding unit that I can throw in the truck once or twice a week.

I don't frequent this sub too often but I'm curious to see what y'all have come up with for those in a similar boat.
I'm looking to make a few more, maybe some barricades.

The Last Stand is durable and breaks down easily.

1 - 10ft 2x4

2 - shelf brackets with screws

2 - 3/8" x 6" carriage bolts with two washers and nuts

Cut 2x4 into a single 6' and 4' piece

2 - 1x1x8' furring strip/ cut in half

Cut each piece in half

Mount the shelf brackets to the 3' pieces legs, in the middle.

Clamp the two 2' pieces together and drill two holes for the carriage bolts through each.

Mount one to the brackets and sink the heads of the carriage bolts into it.

Mount the remaining 2' board on the carriage bolts and clamp the two 1xs between the boards.  Staple cardboard target backer to the upright 1x1's.

Eta: very much like Paul Harrell's video only mine can clamp the uprights.

Election signs work great for me. Drill holes in some 2x8 sections and you have a stand. easy to staple IPSC cardboard targets to as well.

It all breaks down to fit in a car trunk.

Ha never thought of that. I'll have to head into town and see if any signs are still up.

I like to go to Lowes and buy a few Shepard's hooks  in various heights.
Then buy a few AR500 plates Probably nothing bigger than 8-10".

Toss in truck or trunk, take to range.
During a cease fire/range cold, carry them out to desired distance, step on hook bases to set them up, hang plates, return to bench.
Range Hot, enjoy the bang of your steel plates.

I've done this at my home range behind my house and out at the Gun Club for pistol and rifle many times.

Pros: takes up less space, maybe lighter, takes much longer to wear out.
Cons: not good for grouping, unless you repaint after each grouping.  I do keep a 5gallon bucket with cans of cheap white paint in the garage for touch ups.

YMMV.
