In my search about Brown Bess muskets I came across this company selling fully functional muskets
except the touch holes are not drilled. Any one went this way just to get a reenactor musket? I can drill a 1/16" hole
in my drill press but would it be better to do a threaded vent? Can this just be a waste of time and just stay away?
I figure this will ether teach me a lot about flintlocks or just makes me never want to look at another flintlock in my life.
Anyone dealt with these muskets?

Everything I have read says I will be asking for trouble. I guess I just stick with no lower than a Italian made one.

Good decision...….Mostly just awful.

Flinters are fun but  even the best ones are temperamental

If you want to go that route, talk to Loyalist Arms. I am generally iffy about the Indian stuff, but I got an English sea service pistol from Loyalist, and it's perfect.

How bad was the shipping? My concern is being in Canada and going thru customs if I need to get repair work. How would you rate them against Middlesex Village?

I purchased at all those places OP, but also Pedersolis.
In the end, after years - what you really continue to like is the well made ones. The difference is so huge.

Recent Pedersoli Ship's Carbine (shortened Brown Bess) but I also have the longer model:

The quote I got from Loyalist arms for shipping a Baker rifle copy and bayonet was very reasonable.

I just checked my email.  About $80 to ship the rifle and bayonet to me.  I thought that was fairly reasonable.
