I have a standard carbine with the 18" i put tech sights, but i would like to cut it down to 16" with the irons and threaded to accept muzzle devices.

is this possible?

is it cheaper to buy a barrel this way?

I will be cheaper to buy one in the style you want. Unless you have the means to do it yourself.

I had mine cut to 16, rethreaded and crowned at my LGS for $65. If you like the gun and it shoots good now it is money well spent. The rifle shoots even better now and has shot a best of .116 at 25yds with Eley Contact. It did change which ammo it liked when I had it cut. This was a sporter 18" barrel before.
