Hello I have a daniel defense lower that is cerakoted and it feel off my truck today when I was out shooting it and it scraped through the cerakote and the anodizing and now there is a a scratch that is the bare silver aluminum with no coating on it. I don't care about what it looks like since it is my go to gun but I would like to know if it can cause finish issues? I know it cant rust but can it start to corrode? Is there anything that can protect it or is it fine? I know guns are tools but I like to take care of my tools. Thanks.

I wouldn't worry about it. If it starts to rust, just brush clp on it and your good as new.

you can coat it with a small amount of aluminum black and then a satin coating and it will keep it from corroding, which is probably not going to happen anyway, but it would give you piece of mind.

The military has shit tons of rifles in service with barely any anodizing left. A little scratch will be fine.

Functionally won't hurt anything. Only you can decide if the look is worth fixing.

Aluminum oxidizes very quickly and likely has oxidized most of the way already. It should not really corrode much further. As far as cosmetics go that is for you to answer but it wouldn't bother me.
