Another vote for the M14s. I've had the Polytech for going on 20 years. I traded an AK and $150 for it. The first time I looked at one was at a Soldier of Fortune convention in Las Vegas, liked it and was going to order one when I got back home, but the ban happened and I couldn't.

Just throwing it out there but...any 6.5 Creedmoor autos out yet? Other than the custom builds ?

In terms of what is currently out there, Springfield chambers some of their M1A rifles in 6.5 Creedmoor.  LMT and Daniel Defense both make an AR-10 in 6.5 Creedmoor.  Robinson XCR-M comes in 6.5 Creedmoor as well.

In terms of stuff coming out, there are rumors of FN bringing a 6.5 Creedmoor SCAR 17.  DSA announced at Shot Show earlier this year that they plan to bring out a FAL in 6.5 Creedmoor as well.

The MWS has you covered for .308, .243, .260, 6.5CM, and .338 Fed all at once.

Here’s a CM barrel. I have a second one on the way that will get reprofiled and chopped to 16”.

LMT MWS get's my vote.  I really do not think there is a better platform with this type of modularity and battle proven reliability and ruggedness.  Name a platform that gives you as much proven performance, caliber change, accuracy, and simplicity.

I used to own a DPMS LR-308 that I ordered from the factory with every available option and a 24" barrel.  I did a couple more things to it after I got it, and it was a great rifle.  It really liked military 168 grain match ammo and would normally shoot .75 MOA with that ammo.  Some times it would hit .5 MOA with that ammo, but not normally.  Very reliable rifle.  I finally sold it about 3-4 months ago.

CM runs in all of them. Usually PMAGs. I keep the OAL short enough to work in any mag I have.

My favorite of all time would be a SIG AMT.  But those are way outside of the price range in this thread.  My father has a FN FAL 50.00.  It is quite lovely.

I have a SCAR.  It is a nice rifle and battle proven.  However, the lightweight materials that make it great, also make it feel cheap in hand.

I've had and sold various M1-a, Beretta BM 62/59, HK 91, Galil, and sold them all.  All good rifles, but for my I just prefer the MWS.

I've been quite pleased with my 6.5 MWS.

Only 308 semi I'll probably ever own.

None better, imo.  Reliable as hell and more accurate than that

My go to is my M&P-10 in .308. But for sheer fun my H&R M1 Garand comes out of the safe along with my M1A. I also have an M&P-10 in 6.5 Creedmore

I have owned a few 7.62 semi autos, and the only one I have kept is the LMT MWS. I would.like to own a M1A again but don't really need it., would be a Scout in a traditional stock as the EBR I had was heavy. The Desert Tech MDR was a dog.

I like my M-1 Garand and went through basic training with the M-14, so I have a soft spot for the M-14/M1A, but I will stick with my AR-10 clone; it shoots very nicely, I built it myself, and I can clean it from the breach.

Unless it's the LMT LM8.

But I agree, the MRP system is an awesomely versatile and durable platform.

I hear you brother, I bought one of the contract overruns and could not be happier.  Truly a fantastic rifle but then I liked it so much I went out and bought another in black but picatinny sytle and that is after playing with my friend's KAC for a few range trips.  not saying one is better than other just that what a fantastic platform for modularity, durability, accuracy, and recoil is beyond lower than expectations.

mine that I have owned in no peticular order

dsa 16" fal- decent rifle, like the adjustable gas system, did not like the iron sights.

ptr 91- first one was a a3r model and had fail to eject issues on occasion, next one was a GI-R that was flawless however even after 400 rounds I would have to morter the buttstock into the ground to get the rollers to unlock

M1A- I have owned the socom 16, scout squad, and now a standard in walnut. all mine have been springfield armory and I have had zero malfunctions with it. I only have the standard currently

windham src 308 mine came from the factory with a 16" barrel and a Midwest ind. keymod rail. I was able to handload some ammo into sub moa territory at 100 yards. I would have occasionaly fail to feed/ eject issues.

LMT mws 308- I have wanted one of these forever and finally bought one, mine is a 13.5" with pinned LMT flash hider I believe the model is called "mws Battle rifle" one issue I have is maybe a burr in the feed ramp or throat but after I chamber a round it is very difficult to extract. Once extracted I have gouges in the projectile. I am able to shoot around 1" at 100 with FGMM so I guess its not causing that much of a problem. function has been 100% I contacted LMT about the issue and gave all my information to a rep and then he ghosted me and I have had no other contact regarding the issue. The rifle functions fine so im not going to worry about it.

only two 308 rifles I currently have now are the LMT and a Standard M1A. I may pick up KAC SR25 someday.

Favorite so battle rifle I own currently is my FAL, non-matching Imbel kit on an Imbel GL receiver built by Randy Kline of Superior Arms & Machine. It is currently spec'd for shooting primarily 7.62 NATO rounds but I can swap out the locking shoulder if I decide to shoot more commercial .308/match loads. Since I received it back in 10/2019 I've put 900rds and it has functioned flawlessly. Still hasn't received a cleaning yet. I shoot with irons only and it hit the 12" gongs between 100-250m with ease.  Everybody that I let shoot this rifle say they find it incredibly easy to shoot. That said, I'm going take it out on the range again tomorrow for another fresh diet of Malaysian L2A2 ball.

I have the following
LMT MWS 13.5 i. 308 and a 20 inch 6 5cm
Kac SR25 ACC
FN Scar

I have had

18 inch M1A
PARA FAL.
Armalite AR10
Mega MaTen build.

I honestly liked all of my 308 gas guns but I think in 2020, the Kac and LMT are the gas guns to beat.

While you can build up a pretty damn good 308 AR these days, but the reliability and durability makes the LMT anx Kac pretty cool

As good of a rifle as the Scar is. Just can get into mine.
