I know pretty much nothing about 10/22's but for the match I shot Friday night and plan to shoot again regularly, that seems to be pretty much the way to get it done.

I shoot left handed and found the right hand charging handle to be, at the very least, inconvenient, so I started looking at custom actions. The X-ring has a left hand handle option. Is the X-Ring VR receiver compatible with Kidd .22LR Bull Barrels and 2 stage triggers? What about Volquartsen barrels?

An option you might be interested in is the Tandemkross dual charger addition.    If requires no other modification, so you can use whatever barrel and receiver you have or want, and the same bolt.  You can find positive reviews on Rimfire Central website.
