Round 1 was thr heavy parked ones. Round 2 seems to be more original finish.

Honestly it's a neat gun but she really wanted a true 1911. Not an a1.

If she wants to shoot it, she would rather have an A1 over a correct 1911.

It's a nice honest mutt, pretty much what I carried at every duty station I was at except that has way more finish. The one I had in Germany was basically bare steel, I however got better parts during the group dunk barrel cleaning sessions.

My Round 1 was an original finish Colt lower with a 70s replacement slide.

Apparently with no rebuild marks.

Fantastic shooter and I love it dearly.

An original 1911 would have gone to auction.  A truly original coming into CMP would have been almost unheard of.   These came from Army stores.  An original 1911 surviving unaltered for a hundred years isn’t going to happen.

I got mine in the first circuit.   RR frame, post war slide, HS barrel. All reparked by the Army.  I like it.

Congrats! Very cool!
Never saw a unit marking like that before, a real coup to find. Likely never see one again.

Did you try Navy FOIA? This pistol don't have any Army digitalized record prior to 2010 sending to ANAD. So it will be worth trying Navy or other branches.

Know anyone currently in the Navy?  Would be easy enough to look up those UICs to get the exact unit it was assigned to.

Yeah, just trying to find one that fits the finish pattern and for a decent price.  Not in a hurry

Looks like they logged it from where it once was (that's what we need to know, perhaps surplus storage since the War) to those that log them in July 1975 when it was only 31 years old. They had it a few decades then CMP got it, then Frau Max.

Its the chain of ownership from 1945 to 1975 would like to see, prolly just who we think it was, but where would be nice.

That is one of the coolest Unit or Stores markings have ever seen.

Post-Production stamps/engraving shall not be taken for granted, significance not discounted until known...

Take John Holbrook's US NAVY No. 823 from the first shipment of 500 to Brooklyn Navy Yard for example

Three innocent little letters were added post production: D E L

assigned to USS Delaware, BB 28, one of the last Dreadnaught Battleships ever built. Considering her short service window of 1909-1923, this pistol was stamped between those years.

USS Arizona was BB 39, commissioned in 1915, clearly they steamed together. John has a pistol from 5 Battleships of this era, including USS Arizona.

USS Delaware
Construction: 11 November, 1907
Launched: 6 February, 1909
Decommissioned: 10 November, 1923

Clearly DEL is obvious for a US NAVY pistol, but J 3 2 2 is very cool and could turn out to be anything from simple to (in the absurd) an OSS sidearm to set aside for unusual specific reasons. You never know 'til you know, ya know?

@TOTHEMAX

See above post D-dude. Obviously slide was stamped, not electro-pencil or engraved, someone had a set of dies A-Z and 1-0 providing 36 choices for marking

Further, unless my eyes are cheated by some spell (and digital obscurity), it was stamped before refinish...

This changes things and origin, stamp not 20th Century unless modern refinish... and it isn't. Any better pics of weapon details and J 3 3 2? Hell, should see it in person too at some point.

Histwhorical Value is there, if Mrs. Max wants a pre-1919 pistol, you have some excellent choices in the Black Army era as the newer they are, the cheaper they cost, finish condition and parts matching aside... can help you look if you lemme know the era, production window and such.

Have been looking for a prime 1919 near EOP (End Of Production) for a long time, cant find close enough to 630000 from April 1919 -
