Spyderco makes a lot of leaf shaped blades, and Benchmade has a few that are slightly wider than others. For an actual wide blade, you may need to consider something custom.

I have been carrying a gerber flatiron lately and it’s been great for the $28  I paid for it.

How wide are you thinking?

I have been looking for a wide blade too, essentially a chef's knife.  I have found a few that are close, but not exactly what I want.

A.G. Russell comes very close and is probably what I will end up with.  (Alton Brown likes these, I hear)

Have you looked at the Ontario Utiliac line? The seem to be rather large for their class.

Two to consider that I've found pretty wide:

My daily carry. Microtech Stitch A. Auto only side opener. Rock solid lock up and m390 steel holds an edge forever while still being relatively easy to sharpen. Hard to find new. Used ones are commanding new prices and I believe over time it will actually increase in value which is odd.
They made several different colors, finishes and 3 different blade options.

Do you pocket carry that Cold Steel 4-max?

@Dace

Yeah, I have.  It actually carries pretty well.  I switched to a deep pocket clip, so you need deep pockets.  My Kuhl pants hold it well; it's a big folder but pocket carries very well.

If I didnt already have a Grip in M390, I'd be all over this.

I have one of the BM version and it is a very wide, flat-grind blade...excellent slicer with a lot of strength.  I'm in queue for the new version from Hogue; a lot of value in Ritter's new (different manufactured) model.

I’ve been pretty happy with this Kershaw, not too heavy but stout enough to handle some decent salad prep.
